About Falling As Lightning
The wars were over. We had achieved dominance over all our enemies, and our influence stretched to the edges of known space. But as soon as our enemies bowed and acknowledged our lordship, murmurs were heard in the dark corners of our palaces and halls. Those who were not content to share the victory equally rose up to exert their influence over the government. The political parties that had been united while enemy armies ravaged our planets now turned on each other with blackest treachery. In this darkest twilight, we cannot sit idle. Take up control of our party's resources and reunite the State under our guiding vision!
Choose from Deep and Unique Political Ideologies
Will you fight for the Technocratists who wish to establish a meritocratic government where the most ruthless are allowed to exercise dominance, or for the Workerists who believe that the government should protect employees by ensuring all a company's products are purchased. In the distant future, today's politics of Democracy, Socialism, and Monarchy have been left aside as new beliefs replaced them.
Build a Government
As you invade each star system, you will need to set up a government infrastructure by recruiting officials. Use your prestige to build an efficient government that will let you rapidly expand.
Conquer Your Opponents
Expand against your enemies as you maneuver around the star system, planning which targets are crucial and which should be avoided.

Unfortunately, the current design hides a rather lackluster deckbuilding experience behind a minimal effort to actually teach the game. Even before diving into the subpar gameplay, learning how to play it is a chore in itself. The tutorial is one-pager trying to explain key concepts which is difficult to grasp without context (it's not helping that it uses different terminology for draw, discard etc). What's worse, in game it's not possible to access the tutorial unless you quit to the main menu and there are 0 tooltips for clarifying parts of the game. If you take the time to learn the game through patience you are rewarded with gameplay that demands more of it. Like most deckbuilders, you draw cards from your deck each turn, that give you some temporary resources, most valuable of which is prestige which you use for buying cards or conquering parts of the galaxy…5 found this helpful
I had a good time playing it. Parts of it are definitely not polished, and I wish you could save 10 card decks instead of having to redo it every time you want to use those cards. Spawn locations are a bit too varied, as you can spawn right on top of the enemy or a good distance away. Decent deckbuilding game, worth taking a look at although it takes a couple of games to get use to and the tutorial is alright but hard to grasp. That is all I have to say, good time4 found this helpful
It needs a real tutorial to understand how to play the game3 found this helpful
Falling as Lightning is a sci-fi themed cardgame/deckbuilder where you build a small deck and play cards to determine the outcome of a sci-fi future empire. The game has a text based browser/Flash tier interface. The lack of polish and heavily lacklustre interface is representative of the game itself, and while there's some clever ideas, this is not just an asset flip or a cash grab, the quality is very poor. The text based interface is a huge let down, but this lack of quality and production value permeates the gameplay as well. There's potential in the idea, but as is the case with so many indie games, it can't be realised without proper budget and staff to create a minimum acceptable production value. The game is completely free. Nothing speaks more to a developers belief in themselves and their product than making their game available for everyone without remuneration. This is certainly a gesture that shows dedication to the gaming industry. It's a shame in this case that the implementation is below the minimum standards a dedicated PC game should offer to enthusiasts. There's no "maybe" option in Steam, unfortunately, but I hope to see more work from this developer,…2 found this helpful
