About Tyr

✦ AI summary

Tyr is a tank shooter where strategic positioning, armor angling, and unique vehicle abilities determine victory over pure reflexes. ✦ AI summary

Tyr is a team-focused tank game with solid mechanics and short matches that players find enjoyable, but it's held back by a weak communication system that makes solo queue frustrating since success heavily depends on coordinated teamwork. Players also criticize the upgrade progression system for creating uncertainty about whether losses stem from skill or equipment disadvantage, alongside a lengthy grind to viability. The game appeals most to War Thunder fans willing to squad up with friends using external voice chat, while solo players may find it frustrating.

Good game. Tanks are balanced. Gameplay is fun and rounds are short, plus since theres no respawn, you can leave when you die so you can requeue. Haveant seen any bugs in 20 hours.

The game has good foundations, but the lack of communications means that whether or not you get effective teamwork each game is basically a dice roll. For a game that depends so heavily on team play over individual skill expression, this means that you have a low influence on winning your games at best, and at worst it's completely up to chance. Because of this, solo queuing is just not fun, and the best way to have fun is to squad up in voice-chats where you can actually communicate. The game just depends on team coordination far too much to have as underdeveloped of a communications system as it does. Still, there are a lot of fun mechanics here. If the comms system significantly improves in the future, then I'll consider changing the review. Until then, the individual player doesn't have enough agency to effect the outcome of the game without being able to work with their team.

Suffers the same issues that most games somewhat similar to war thunder suffer. The upgrade tree means that you don't know for sure if you lost because just poor positioning/play or if they are just more upgraded than you. On top of that the grind required to get to a point where you're viable is a lengthy one. If you're a fan of War Thunder you'll probably like this game, but otherwise avoid.
