About Ghoulboy - Dark Sword of Goblin
Ghoulboy is a retro-inspired style action platformer. Exciting new platformer that combines the action-RPG genre with hack 'n' slash gameplay. 2D action, heroic characters, gloomy environments, demonic bosses, these all seem to excite players a lot. Pixels will be combined with other cool retro elements and the result will certainly be something that will meet the needs of PC gamers. Once in-game, users will get to control a heroic character who will often be seen throwing a spear to create additional platforms. To boot, puzzle and combat elements will further enhance the experience. You wouldn’t want to miss out on it. With the gold that you collect, you can increase your health level, your arsenal of weapons to be thrown away.
Slay as many monsters as you can, collect loot, avoid dangerous traps and defeat menacing bosses.
Ghoulboy brings back the look and feel of the very best classic retro platformers from the 90's, introducing refreshed and engaging gameplay mechanics. If you miss platformers from the 16-bit era, and think games nowadays aren't that good anymore, think twice! Ghoulboy is for you.
GHoulboy Features:
-4 bosses
-Chiptune retro musics
-Puzzles
-3 weapons (small sword, big sword, mace)
-2 throwable weapons
-Gamepad support

Okay I actually love this game and I was notttttt anticipating I would. It’s an original Mario meets Dungeons and Dragons. So cute! I had switch up my control button mapping to use it the way I like but it’s perfect. If you like retro platformers then this is for you. It works both on pc and on the steam deck also! I bought this on sale but it’s worth the 4.99 regular price quite frankly. Absolutely love this game. Definitely my new evening game before bed and with 26 levels of decent length and checkpoints throughout- it’s worth it!3 found this helpful
x-- 8/10 --x Absolutely charming 2D platformer! There is a lot of spelling / grammar mistakes in the game, but the gameplay is solid.1 found this helpful
I owned "Ghoul Boy" possibly since it came out. But it took me almost ten years to finally play it. And it was just the right moment, because I looked for a retro platformer that is challenging, but finishable. I found it with "Ghoul Boy". + smooth gameplay that makes jumping and fighting a pleasure + mostly beatable jumping and fighting sequences with some peaks you shouldn't give up at + great aesthetics that conjure the world of "Ghoul Boy" perfectly + unlockable items that DO make a difference, because the morning star really imprves your combat ability as does tte extra health Having beaten the game, I can say that it truely evokes memories to "Castlevania", and, concerning some difficulty, "Mega Man".
Good combat platformer game. Much better experience this time thru the game. I tried to play thru the game on my Nintendo Switch but it was broken on the Switch so I couldnt finish it. But I picked up this game on Steam when it was really cheap on sale because I had just played thru once of this developers other games: Beholgar (which I liked). It was a mjuch better experience on my PC. I was able to play thru the entire game on my Steam Deck without any technical issues. Solid combat platformer game. Check out this developers other more recent games: Beholgar 1 and 2.
7/10 A cool little platformer, casual but also some tricky parts, lovely old TV/VHS/16-bit graphics. I had to do some of the bosses a few times to get their pattern down but once I understood their pattern they became fun, and I actually farmed the first boss for coins for the unlocks. Purchased whilst it was on sale.
Looks great, although rough around the edges. Very similar in quality as Mahluk (the previous game by this developer). At some points it feels unfinished yet is not unplayable. Still a nice and short little game. Recommended on sale, totally worth it.
