✦ AI summary

ZeroSpace scratches the real-time strategy itch with distinctly unique factions, accessible learning curve, and an engaging co-op Galactic War mode where players level commanders and faction abilities across a persistent universe battle map. However, the game is still in early access with an incomplete campaign, limited unit variety, and PvP that some find shallow compared to deeper base-building and unit management that traditional RTS fans may crave. Most players see strong potential and recommend trying it, though some suggest waiting for more content and balance updates.

Coming from the perspective of someone who only plays the Co-op Galactic war mode. Thoughts so far in no particular order, will update if i think of more: -Continued impovements to the UI have been great (seems to be in a good spot right now). - Galactic war map still needs more clarity and the ability for Alliances to give orders/direction. - Looking forward to more maps and commanders to play in Co-op and hopefully more perk unlocks for each. - The ability to customise what items i equip for buffs before entering a Co-op mission is interesting and gives me things to consider when making a loadout, especially since i might want to take a mercenary building with me to cover for a weakness in roster. -New Xol faction is interesting with the ability to combine its units to make other types. Specifically for galactic war, I really enjoy the topbar ability that lets you assimilate a bunch of units into(what i have seen it referred to as) a kaiju super unit that has the combined stats of all the units that were used. (Seriously a spectron with massive splash radius is very fun to watch) As an ending note, the current amount of content is something i am satisfied i paid for and i don…

The Grell are probably the faction that interests me most because their entire approach to controlling the map feels different. Spreading biomass and establishing blooms makes territory important in a way that goes beyond simply placing another building somewhere. I like when RTS games make you change how you think depending on which faction you’re using. Too many strategy games give everyone different-looking units but leave the actual gameplay almost unchanged. ZeroSpace seems much more ambitious than that. There’s still balancing to consider, especially with several factions and mercenaries interacting with each other. I’m not expecting everything to be perfectly tuned during Early Access. The important part is that the factions have their own identities, and that’s a solid starting point.

One thing ZeroSpace gets right is giving you more to think about than just building the biggest army. The mercenary factions are a good example. You can bring in units that aren’t normally part of your main faction, which makes army composition a lot more interesting. It’s the sort of system where understanding what you’re fighting against matters just as much as knowing your own units. I do think there’s a lot for new players to absorb. Between commanders, faction mechanics, unit abilities and the usual economy management, the game can feel pretty demanding. But I’d rather have that problem than an RTS where every faction plays almost identically. There’s clearly some thought behind the design.
