About Graveyard Architect

Graveyard Architect

Gameplay in Graveyard Architect is divided into 2 stages. The first one (day) is based on building a cemetery, decorating it, and burying the dead. The second, night stage is a punishment for the lack of diligence during the day, the angry inhabitants of the cemetery want to take revenge on you.

DAY

In the daytime phase of the game, you must complete the received orders and bury the properly delivered dead. Additionally, you can decorate your cemetery to provide them with a dignified rest, but not only that. Your task is also to obstruct the movement of potentially rebellious dead so that they have trouble getting to you in the moment of rebellion.

NIGHT

When night comes, the (un)dead will punish you for your incompetence and rise from their graves. It will be caused by insufficient decorations, clutter in the cemetery, and other unfavorable activities during the day. You must fight for your life and pray that dawn will come sooner than you think. Don’t let them leave the cemetery. The dead site is right there.

Just doesn't feel like much of a game. Core game-play is really basic, you get a few new graves, they tell you something that might or might not hint at what they are looking for, and you do your best to meet their requests. At night, any who you failed to satisfy rise from their graves. You had a set amount of time to slay them, or they escape. They do fight back, but they aren't very hard and combat is really basic. The art is nice, but very repetitive, as are the requests. I like light, I want dark, I like stones, I hate stones, stuff like that. You are hampered by the fact that when you have new graves to place, you can't see what old graves want, so you sometimes place a new person near someone who asked to be left alone, or place a building by someone who hates buildings. Makes it tough. Once they are placed you can review them, why not before? A weird hitch in the system. In addition the controls are wonky as can be, and it isn't always possible to click on a grave to see their status. On the plus side, it looks nice, and there is a wide variety of things you can build. Structures can be used to act as barriers in combat, which is handy. Once someone is placed incorrect…

It would be cool if it was more like a cemetery building simulator where you can dig graves, design headstones, and build tombs, instead of just placing tombs in places trying to guess if that is going to make the spirit happy.

I really do like the concept of the game but it is too easy imo. At first you make mistakes and might have to fight one or two risen dead but once you figure out how this thing works that will become more and more rare. I made it up to night 100 without any issues and only ended the run aka let them kill me because i wanted to get the upgrades with the ton of points i had collected. I would love if there was more reward for doing so many nights in a row or to have more decor to spend the money on, or to have the ocnditions you have to meet become more difficult, etc. Right now it only managed to stay interesting for a short time, then you have basically seen everything there is.

This game so far is on the right path to becoming a good game. the visuals and movement of both PC and MOBs are on point, and the art stile of the monument, stone, graves, ect. are done well. which from the get go is really good. Now the bad, when trying to take care of the needs of the departed some are a little tricky to understand. the text right next to the name are good to have but maybe add subtext of what they want such as, "i was in the spot light for so long...... but not now." (would like be away from others). and to have the ability to exhume (move) a grave to better meet the needs but for a cost of either sp or coins. But so far still a fun game that i look forward to get better. worth the buy.
