Very juicy and satisfying golfing mechanics in this unique physics based game!2 found this helpful
Beating the levels is just the start, then climbing the leaderboards with fastest times is where the game really shines (similar to what keeps me playing Neon White).1 found this helpful
Grippy Golf is a criminally unknown precision/mastery based 3d platformer. The level design in particular is a highlight, with a great sense of flow and some clever secondary objectives. Sppedrunners will be right at home here with a built in leaderboard and speedy mechanics. The difficulty of reaching many 3 star objectives is tuned just right so that it feels attainable but is still incredibly rewarding to get to, even if you don't care about the leaderboards. It's not a "golf game" though, which might be it's biggest identity crisis. It stops resembling golf about 2 seconds after swinging the club, and you spend 95% of your time not swinging said club. The theme makes sense in a vacuum, but might attract people looking for something more casual and sporty while turning away people who love a good challenging platformer. These exact same levels could be repackaged by turning the "ball" into a character that can burst themselves forward in the exact same way and is launched from a little pad at the start of each level or when on the ground for too long. Mechanically almost identical, but more directly conveying that this is a platformer rather than golf with more steps. Again, l…
Fun idea. Executed well.
This game is really good. It's like Katamari Damacy + Golf with Speed-running. Level designs are unique and innovative. I've played the demo and got hooked because of this game's creativity and the challenge of getting the fastest times. Pretty fun game but this game needs a bigger audience. I feel like a game like this can have a speed-running community and be well-received. There could be more potential for this game such as: - Custom Level Creator (Steam Workshop) - Rhythm Based Levels - Custom Music (Music in the game is fine but gets a bit repetitive at times) - Replays - More/Alternate Modes The one gripe I have is the camera will sometimes move in the opposite direction of where I'm moving it. Not really sure if it's how fast I flick mouse, but it's pretty annoying. With that, this game is still solid but it needs more.
This is a great little game that I found a lot more enjoyable than I expected. It does become difficult to 3 star everything around world 3. There are a lot of neat mechanics in this that make it not only a fast paced game of accuracy, but also give it some puzzle vibes as well.
