It´s a short visual novel about a slice of life / coming of age story. First thing that stings into the eye. The style is realisic. No Cartoon or japanese anime style. Besides that it´s a nice short story that will keep you entertained for an hour or so. If you are curious you can´t go wrong for less than a dollar.1 found this helpful

Just finished the game and have mixed feelings. I appreciate the unique choice of characters and setting and think the rock soundtrack added a lot to the game. I liked the perspective behind the social commentary and the point the game seemed to be making. The parts I didn't like as much: 1) controlling the main character in the third-person exploration segment was very difficult. I got through this, but the way the character controlled just didn't feel like a professional-level game. It was trying to be a point-and-click adventure game in this small portion, but the main character was running at superhuman speed. I assume this is due to limitations with the engine the game was created in. The Bible puzzle was also frustrating, as I have never been good at these sliding-tile puzzles, so I took advantage of the kindly offered option to skip the puzzle. Despite being glad the option to skip was present, it would have been better if the gameplay had been crafted to a level where I wouldn't want to skip. 2) The plot of the game moves so fast with the solutions to the main character's problems appearing suddenly one after another without the player having to explore to find them. Welcome to another indie game spotlight. we're going to be playing a game called hellfire 1988. It is by the fine folks over at Mama Makes Games. You don't really get an options panel here. You just get an all-around sound volume bar on the main page or the main menu. You get a load game. If you have started a new game and saved it sometime while you're playing it, you can load in to pick it back up. You’re present with two options for playing the game, you can either do visual novel or you can do a visual novel with the puzzles. Now, the nice thing I see is here. If you make a choice that you don't get the result that you wanted, you can go up to the top. That has undone last choice and you can redo what you just did. So that's a nice little touch. Now the numbering of your choices here is as I'm noticing a small trend is that sometimes like this one is more of an extreme, there’s a middle ground and like a more positive. This is what my assumption is on that. The character models. I think they built this in unreal. I'm not quite sure, it's a simple game. It's a simple design premise of just, static background images, but you have your character puppeteer in the small little windo…1 found this helpful
Mama Makes Games is a really cool dev and has some unique and refreshing ideas about game development. The story is quite vast here in Hellfire 1988. It's realistic without being too graphic or too mild, and I really like the way character development progressed in my research of this game. Every single interaction has tree choices, and you really get to explore the rebellious passion of its characters and realities. I need to explore more here, but I like what I see here and with the game contributing to charity with every purchase, I implore you to take a look if you enjoy visual novels or interactive fiction. I have a little game preview on my channel, so I'll link that, and I hope this helps your decision. https://youtu.be/4kt0sVP98Jw
