The first spin-off series of stories set in the grotesque world of Forgotten Hill is finally available on Steam: we are proud to introduce the Forgotten Hill Tales!
In this first-person, horror, point and click series of games you will find the usual creepy and grotesque Forgotten Hill style together with new obscure adventures that will expand the lore and mysteries of the disturbing city of Forgotten Hill.
The Forgotten Hill Tales includes:
- Little Cabin in the Woods -
A little boy, his Grandfather, a painful past and the desire to run away.
A violent tragic event of the past forced you to live for years locked up in the little cabin in the woods, but the day has come when you will get out of there, whatever the cost
- Portrait of an Obsession -
A journey to a faraway country, the discovery of a strange painting and the desire to own it. Is this just the encounter with an intense work of art or is it the beginning of an obsession?
- GrandMa's Delicious Cakes -
A nice old woman who makes delicious cakes, an exterminator with a sweet tooth, some rodents to capture. What could ever go wrong?
- Rise of Pico -
This will not be an ordinary day for the Hofmeier butler: the master has assigned you a very delicate task. But you will surely accomplish without any problem.
- The Left Behind -
Many children have been kidnapped. During a turbulent day, they were all set free. All but one. Today it is time for him to try to escape the horrors of the Museum...

Perhaps one of the strongest entries in the series. The game tells several separate stories that are short and to the point, but still require some thought to solve. I never ran into any truly hopeless moments. Even when I got stuck, taking a break and coming back later with a fresh mind was enough to solve the puzzle without looking up a guide. The core gameplay is the same as always: find a code and figure out where it goes. There are also a few mini-games here and there
Forgotten Hills is easy to compare to Rusty Lake games. FH is better than RL, because RL are guessing games with scarce logic, whereas FH are actual puzzle games that requires you to figure out patterns. Tales is challenging, although there are some kids games inserts that were a bad choice by the team. If you like using your noggin, you'll like this game.

Full of challenging puzzles
I'm really torn on whether to actually recommend this game or not. It's a B- at best. This game is made in Unity, which means it overheats my computer. I don't think any point-and-click should ever be made with Unity. Opening and closing the game is sluggish, and I didn't enjoy the fact that I had to slowly turn the book pages every time I wanted to get to a later level. [b]Little Cabin in the Woods[/b] It was going really well until I got to the end when I became severely stuck and there were zero in-game hints about anything. Clicking the "?" was getting me nowhere, so I eventually caved and went looking for the walkthrough. Turns out there was an area on the screen that I was supposed to click that is incredibly difficult to spot because it blends right in with everything else ([spoiler]seriously, that gap in the wood looked exactly the same as all the other gaps, like there was nothing about it that drew my eye to that area[/spoiler]). Very rage-inducing end to an otherwise alright experience.
