About Light the Candles in Hell

Disclaimer: This game is a simple walking simulator with only one interaction. I aimed to create a meditative experience inspired by Camino de Santiago pilgrimage in Spain, but it didn’t turn out as planned. Reviews are negative, with players feeling it's a bit of a time waster, instead of taking it down from Steam, I’ve left it up. This was my first game, made in just three days, and it’s far from optimized. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend playing it.Playtime: 2 minutesYou light the 11 candles. There is no sound, no one around. In the vast open world, a single monolith stands, marking your time in hell. The sole purpose is to keep the flame alive. The game offers very simple gameplay. Players light 11 candles one by one and aim to light them all. When all candles are lit, the ending appears and the game is complete.

"Light the Candles in Hell" is, well, I don't know if this is a serious attempt at making a game or not. If it is, it's a terrible idea. If it's not, it's a terrible idea, why spend $100 on a Steam Direct joke? Like it says on the box, this is a game about lighting candles... in fact that's all you do. You wander around a generic desert map and light 1000 candles. At least people assume there's 1000 of them... the game is so boring and shallow I don't think anyone bothered going that far. I sure didn't. I have less pleasant things to do, like reviewing bad games. The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers beli…

I'm giving it a thumbs up, while it could be just a bit longer(just a bit), it's pretty relaxing and simple. And sometimes, simple is good. Love the way it looks. Hopefully we get more from the developer. Cheers. https://youtu.be/DAiD30zb1F8?si=r3-CtqDeh1TrRrYt

In a game titled "Light the Candles in Hell" one would expect to, you know, be able to light the candles.

Beautiful but short atmospheric adventure. I don't know how anyone could play this for it's short runtime, see the sights it has to offer, and leave a negative review. Those people are better off eating toothpaste and zerking off to hardcore zorn.
