About Heterodox

Heterodox brings you to a dark fantasy world where FPS combat must be mastered.
The game inspired by classic FPS games in 90' starting with Heretic/Hexen, Doom, Strife, Blood, Quake with modern touches inspired from Half-Life, Dark Messiah, Deus Ex 1, Dishonored, Clive Barker's Undying.

You are a young warrior, near yet far away from home. Into the other lands below the Sky-Gate, the enemy lurks, in various shapes and forms.
The most capable of them scheme to possess these lands and bring a strategic threat to the safety of your cities and kin.
That strategic threat is like losing the other end of a bridge to your city to the enemy.

To prevent that from happening you will impersonate in first person this warrior, and armed with melee weapons or ranged weapons you will reduce their numbers.
Key features:

- simulative melee combat that features realistic dismemberment of enemies
- dismembered enemies that are not dead, will adapt and fight you in whatever way they can
- dark fantasy world with unique levels
- choose among 19 weapons (from simple melee weapons such as swords and axes to magical crossbows and magic machine-guns)

I love the feel of the game, it resembles old games of the genre. It's definitely targeted towards more mature audiences, as you can dismember your enemies by targeting specific areas of their bodies. I do hope the game will get enough traction to be developed further, as it has great potential already!

I like the castle layout with lots of corridors and passages. Has an old school flavor and you always feel that there's more to it. The enemies manage to take you by surprise sometimes - don't take them lightly, they're mean and set to kill you! Don't forget to save the game and load if you die. Cool thing that you get to dismember the opponents, depending on where you hit them. Not sure if there's a way to parry their hits. The game is in early access, so I expect feedback to be handled and lot of things to be added and improved. Like it would be useful to have the help hints in a book or somewhere in the menus to read them again if needed.

Excellent game! But combat needs BLOCK OPTION. I would like to press right mouse button and have a number of blocks available. Depending on weapon equipped. Pressing a block during enemy's swing should do the PARRY and stun enemy for some time. Otherwise cool game. Interesting enemy types, good weapon selection and even one magic wand at the end. Cool. Plays faster and better than Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon and as good as Ravensword: Undaunted. Another two First Person Slashers I played recently. I think developer invented a NEW tactical GAMEPLAY option - to target enemy head, click and knock out enemy's helmet and with the second click to cut enemy's head off. Never seen it before. Super addition to FPS genre. I am waiting for magic crossbow like shown in demo video. Perhaps with exploding arrows to blow your enemies apart (... just a suggestion, in Hexen we had exploding hammers but not exploding enemies). Good job developer(s)! Here is the list of my favourite First Person Slashers (FPS). They are total blast: Heterodox, Ravensword: Undaunted, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, Arthurian Legends, Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Whitc…

I like this game! Strong Hexen vibe! Interesting complicated levels in medieval style. GIBS! Fighting is not good enough for now. Also some lack of options (audio, partially bindings etc). But the game shows great hopes. And i wish to the author all luck! Please do not drop it!!!

Modern rock music in the title? Clunky movement? Cant see well my own sword? Main menu that looks taken out of a cyber game? No thank you. I wanted to help.

Abandoned. Such an ugly, horrible game, one of the worst I've played ever. Bad graphics and animations, amateurishly done beginner locations, iffy direction control. No audio controls. Should be free and still I wouldn't play it.
