HowlKraul

HowlKraul is a really simple but surprisingly fun little dungeon crawler that puts almost all of its focus on fast action and chasing a high score. I am dropped into a small dungeon room where waves of enemies keep appearing, and my main job is to survive while collecting as many coins as possible. The room can change its colours and enemies between runs, which helps keep the basic setup from feeling completely identical every time. I liked how quickly I can jump into a run without having to learn a huge amount of complicated systems. The combat is the strongest part for me. Everything moves quickly, so I am constantly running around the room while trying to avoid enemies and take them down. It has that classic arcade feeling where staying alive is only part of the challenge because I am also thinking about how much score I can build before the run ends. I enjoyed the simple controls because they let me focus on movement, positioning and getting through each wave rather than worrying about complicated abilities. I also really like the fact that furniture can be smashed for coins. It gives me something else to do while enemies are attacking, and it creates a small risk versus rewa…
