About IndependANT
THE COLONY HAS FALLEN!
I mean, literally, the ant farm you call home has fallen off the table and smashed to pieces on the Living Room floor. What's worse: the Queen has gone missing in the chaos! Now leaderless and homeless, the ants of the farm are on the brink of starvation.
As a brave worker ant, it's up to you to scour the unknown world of the Living Room for food. You'll explore the towering furniture, interact with the local ant population, and lay claim to all manner of delicious bug snacks! Do you have what it takes to become truly IndependANT?
IndependANT is part of Young Horses: Free Range, where we collect our smaller side projects and release them for free!
This game is a tech demo we made to help us get used to the Unreal 5 engine. It turned out well enough that we thought fans might enjoy playing it (but not so well that you might enjoy paying for it...)
So give it a try! It's free, so there's only so disappointed you can be!

Short game that has a good enough premise, but doesn't really stick the landing. I enjoyed the ant puns but the gameplay is unengaging and the controls leave much to be desired.
good
Charming little game. It only takes a few minutes to get everything if you know where to go. The bugsnax music after every big food claimed was great. Really reminds me that I want more of that and hope these guys have a good sequel cooking up as that was my first PS5 game that left a great impression besides the pack in Astrobot game. A few extra abilities would be cool to explore as some ants have wings irl so a gliding section would be kinda cool. Like work on that fire bit a little more and you can create thermal plumes to ride and go explore new areas. The throwing mechanic could have been used like the Half Life 2 seesaw puzzle where you could have tipped over the entire box of cereal to have a huge feast for the ants. Lots of possibilities to explore here as I think this concept has potential to be a full, buyable game at some point.
i finished bugsnax two years ago and still think about it regularly (i replaced "love shack" lyrics for "bugsnax" & it's permanently seared into my brain meat now) so now i'm playing the free range games. there's a lot of heart in these, they're silly quick games. the team knows a lot about ant politics. this game makes me wish i could make games.
Its small but a pun AND A GAME? Now we are taking. (free too!)
completed within 30 mins, for a free game would be nice to have multiple levels otherwise it pretty much feels like a demo rather then a game, took about 10 mins into the game to start enjoying it but shortly after that i compleated it
