Jukai Maze

From the creator of Suicide Countdown : 7 days, Mandemon, Kanna maze and other good short VN titles : Jukai Maze ! This is a weird one for me , as I did enjoy it quite a bit (I beat it pretty much in one session!), but not as much as i hoped. It's not a bad game by any means, but I can't say it left such a strong impression on me as Kanna maze did. The + + Kanna maze had simple silhouettes for characters , which was definitely a hit or miss , but in this one every character is fully illustrated! This is a big change as it made me care way more for the characters, as all of them are pretty different from each other ! Big mention to the protagonist's face, having the most hilarious expressions sometimes , he's just so goofy, but in a good way. + The CG's , like Kanna maze are also very well designed and memorable, there's actually a LOT of them for a VN that size which is really impressive ! Basically every scene has a picture related to it, sometimes with different point of views and stuff, it's genuinely a work of art , especially considering (I think? i could be wrong on that) all of them are made by one person ! Most VN will usually stick to one CG for like a house, a school…

A game that tricks you with a thick, mysterious atmosphere during its opening minutes, but that unfortunately constantly tries to be funny. It is not funny. It's exhausting. It has fart jokes. I has a frustratingly inconsistent protagonist. It has royalty free music that is here to ensure that any semblance of vibes are reduced to zero. There are the bones of a good japanese adventure game a la Nonary Games, but Jukai Maze does a remarkable job of not being that and instead wasting your time with silly out of character moments and science-y monologues made by voice actors forced to take a fake American accent. It sucks.

This is very nice VN. And i love VN's where is some explanation to flowchart and different routes. While here explanation similar to Nonary games, it's still very interesting to follow story. Also i liked attantion to details in Jukai, like you get explanation to some endings after going thgrough the story. Only con for me in this game sometimes improper humor. There is to much fart jokes in tense moments. Overall very enjoyable expirience. Also there is no achievement for true ending. P.S. There is [spoiler]126[/spoiler] story blocks in flowchart.

This one is very simple and very, very earnest. It's as if 428: Shibuya Scramble was a student film project, or Kamaitachi no Yoru was directed by an impressionable teen who kitchen-sink'd the whole script over a single weekend. Still, none of what I said should be perceived as great criticism of the game. It is, just like the developers' previous game, Kanna Maze, a decent exploration of the Zero Escape: VLR-like 'flowchart with story locks and branching narrative' concept. The only questionable decision is having full 3D models for the characters instead of charming Kamaitachi no Yoru-reminiscent blue sillhouettes (this makes everything look a bit like a Western porn game...)

I liked Kanna Maze and decided to buy this game, but I regret it. The humor in this game was ill placed. Any semblence of horror and mystic was gone the second I witnessed the first fart joke. Even worse I think there are 3 or 4 in total! The characters fell flat for me and felt even OCC at times! This time there were more concepts of physics and psychology but they were so convulated and placed there only for the sake of it. Honestly, the concept of the game itself feels a little silly, especially the ending? What do you mean that [spoiler] a vulcano erupts because of a Nazi Bell???? [/spoiler] It was so random. It made no sense! Some choices and endings also felt redudant. Like the choice to [spoiler] drink from a water bottle and then dying because the water was stale [/spoiler] or [spoiler] to fart. [/spoiler] This choice was even presented several times!! Overall I cannot recommend this visual novel.

From all the Reincarnation of the butterflies series, id say this one is the best at explaining the story, especially the complicated part, not once did i feel like i lost the plot, which happen quite sometime in previous games, not that its "that" bad, (its just me that stupid ig), but this game simply does it better at it. Im afraid i cant say the same for the element, one thing that keeps me interested in the reincarnation of the butterflies is the way it deliver the "mystery" genre, the suspense, the way the story turns in a direction didnt expect, etc. This one kinda feel like a hit or miss compared to the other 3, espescially after the forest part, the game kinda feel like it lost its charm, the combination of the dialogue, the 3d model, and the background, make the vibes of the game too "bright and loud" most of the time. But, all things considered, its not bad, its just different, its still a good read, its still enjoyable, and surely its not going to stop me from buying the upcoming game from the series
