dont buy this for the deck building gameplay, this might still be an alright visual novel though at this point ive lost all interest in playing it overally even just for the story. hoo boy this is gonna be a stream of consciousness rant because i am frustrated why isnt there a log for the duel dialogue? you implemented one for the vn part it cant be that hard to just put a damn text log of what the characters say in a duel. i accidentally skipped over 2 sentences in the tutorial and thus had no idea how the priority system actually works before restarting. the gameplay speed is too fast in certain phases of the duel to fully tell whats going on. even now i have zero idea how all of the effects that trigger when something about the priority changes actually work because all the animations are instantly over before you can even process it all. ofc there also isnt a gameplay log either i hate that the card drops you get from story progression on the map only tell you what kind/color of magic they belong to before you pick them and you only see afterwards what the exact card you chose is. in retrospect i regretted most of my picks once i got fully stuck (more on that later). because …

Admittedly, the story is nothing to write home about (but still decent, don't get me wrong), but the gameplay is truly addictive. I'd recommend to buy it for the TCG/gameplay first, VN/story second. If you don't care about TCGs at all it probably won't be your type of game. Though as someone who loves TCGs, VNs as well as the setting this was an amazing experience and I wish there was more like this. Being able to import custom playmats was a cool feature as well! Yes, the opponents get higher life pools and upgraded cards, which felt kind of necessary to increase the difficulty over the course of the game. To me the fact that some duels actually posed a challenge is exactly what made it so fun, although it could be more frustrating to others. Sometimes my favorite playstyles and decks were hardcountered and I had to come up with hardcounters to their decks, other times my decks seemed to trivialize the entire duel, but that's just the nature of TCGs.

This game is honestly missmarket, it's not a card game, it's a puzzle game. You have some encounters you have to beat and they all just get way better cards than yours that you then have to specifically counter. There is no real variety you just have to pick whatever counters them. The story also really didn't grap me. Mostly because the Mc is angsty as ♥♥♥♥ while also being casual as ♥♥♥♥ at the same time. The story just made a mega super depressed and a ''Lol, so random and sarcastic'' character and then combined them into one. Which could work but a character like that requires really well done presentation and usually also voice acting work. Obviously this game could not afford voice acting but that means that they should really just have went with a different kind of personality for the main character.

Pretty amazing and dark visual novel mixed with cards battles. You collect cards from many different decks, but it does get harder and harder. Luckily your magic power is to retry as much as you want. Prepare to cheese or be cheesed, as the game is quite hard and puzzling sometimes. The characters are very individualistic and they don't quite like you, but might make a few friends soon. Battle system is quite unique so far as card games are concerned. You have 5 "lanes" in which you can put one fighting card and one spell card, which requires you to deal damage to fulfil. Every card you draw also removes your life and it happens quite a lot someone dies in a new round due to that. A single round takes like 5 minutes, but due to having to retry sometimes you will get your 16+ hours of gameplay and reading the story Badass creepy music and sound design, really adding to the cthulu like dark atmosphere There was a free demo at some point, which got me into the game. It seems like it's gone now

It's ruined by the AI cheating in every encounter. Their Dude A will always have more power than your Dude A and their starting health will always be higher than your starting health. If you and the AI have the exact same deck, they'll win by a landslide simply through having bigger numbers.
