About Kill the Lich Idle
Kill the Lich is a minimalist incremental game centered around time compression and resource propagation. Your resources build automatically over time, but their growth accelerates when you optimize their downstream flow ratios, and you can manually push them along to go even faster. Each action grants attributes that reduce the requirements of other actions, allowing you to push further. Eventually, you can head north to Fight the Lich's Forces in an automated Phase 2, gathering three vital resources that make your next loop faster and unlock new goals.
Unfolding World
With each loop, you gain access to an expanding web of actions. Your goals and strategies will constantly evolve as you prepare for the ultimate fight. As you delve deeper into the system, the number of available actions scales to over 300.Visualize the Math
As an idle game, the math takes center stage. Every formula is fully exposed so you can see exactly how to respond to it. A scrollable map with multiple zoom levels lets you step back and visualize the exact state of your complex network at a high level.Route the Flows
Your primary resource — Momentum — generates and increases automatically. Your core gameplay loop involves routing it in different directions based on your current objectives, whether that's boosting Momentum generation or unlocking new action nodes. At first the game was nice. Reading the story between choosing how to distribute your resources. But after a very short part of the game the story almost completly stopped. Enough to unlock to make it interesting but then you finish your first loop and from there it doesn't look like there is anything new to do. The thing goes into full auto. The decisions haven't been that meaningfull in the first place and now all you have left to do is wait. It doesn't get more idle then that. On top of that you have a very high complexity that makes it almost impossible to comprehend the consequences of your decisions. Meanwhile it doesn't seem to matter all that much anyway.5 found this helpful
Most idle negative game reviews go one of two ways: NOT RECOMMENDED (500+ hours) game is too idle, BORING! NOT RECOMMENDED (1.2 hours) game is too active, not even an idle game! Kill The Lich doesn't have much in the way of decision making, but I find its mechanics very satisfying to see play out. And it's nice to have an idle game that I can actually close for the night without losing any progression efficiency. The prestige options strike a nice balance for me where I can evaluate my options, cross-reference what I have unlocked, and do as much or as little math as I want to figure out which stat will give me the most value to upgrade for the next run. (I overvalued Observation, I think. Try going for stats that reduce the XP overclock needs to level up) I've played worse and shorter for $10, and this one's free!2 found this helpful
If you enjoy other long and slow incremental games such as idle loops and others inspired by it then you will like this game too. Other reviewers are right in that it is super slow and there are not too many options, but if you view it more as a screensaver that you check in on every once in a while and not an active game that demands attention then that isn't really a problem. After your first reset you really only want to play the game when you have offline time saved up but I view that as a bit of a good thing so that I'm not too addicted and can only play so long a day.
The game where you click 100% button every time it unlocks to progress, there's no IQ or thinking needed. that's the whole game.
was enjoying the long form afk playstyle a lot, game randomly bugged and deleted my save. doesn't have steam cloud, only physical backups, and backup doesn't auto-update. last physical back up i have is several hundreds of hours old with no way to fix. glad i didn't spend money on this game and you shouldn't either.
