Konung 2

Konung 2 is a janky early 2000s CRPG with a surprisingly great core. Getting it to run on a modern system is a hassle - the launcher and performance can be rough - but once you’re in, there’s a lot to like. It offers a unique, open-ended experience with a strong sense of freedom and a world rooted in Slavic mythology that helps it stand out. The systems are clunky at first, but they eventually click, and there’s a rewarding depth to how you approach the game. Despite its technical issues, it’s one of the more interesting post-’90s CRPGs I’ve played - rough around the edges, but genuinely fun.

Konung 2 builds upon the foundation of the original game by delivering a classic fantasy role-playing adventure centered on betrayal, redemption, and the struggle for power. The story takes an interesting turn by casting the hero of the previous game as the primary antagonist after the corrupting influence of the legendary Sovereign Bracelet consumes him. This narrative twist immediately raises the stakes, placing six descendants of the ancient Titans at the center of a desperate mission to save the realm. Drawing inspiration from Slavic folklore while blending elements of Viking and Byzantine cultures, the game creates a setting that feels distinct from traditional medieval fantasy. Its mythology, political conflicts, and magical relics all contribute to a world that possesses its own unique personality rather than relying on familiar fantasy clichés. The role-playing mechanics offer enough depth to keep progression engaging throughout the campaign. Players can choose from six different protagonists, each bringing their own strengths while allowing considerable freedom through an expanded skill and attribute system. This game was incredible when I first played it. Nowadays it feels a bit rougher and a bit harder to play as tutorials weren't the thing back then, but it's still an amazing game with a lot of depth. True RPG fans, and I mean the OGs will love this.

One of my favourite game by far. Wish we have more games like Konung. And if possible bring Konung: Blood of titans on steam. Thank you for your hard work.
