Krystopia: A Puzzle Journey

Krystopia: A Puzzle Journey is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as if it was a real PC game (it's not)... it's a cash grab from greedy mobile devs. This mobile app is very simple and shallow, you're presented with a small, low poly scene that you can swipe your finger around on your iPhone screen to view (this swiping action is badly done and altogether too floaty and erratic). In each scene there's a selection of small minigame/block arrangement puzzles that you can complete by tapping carefully on your iPhone screen. That's all there is to this at face value, but there's worse, especially some really shady/unethical behaviour from the developers. Which they openly admit to (and force you to agree to). More on that later. Let's get into why nobody would want to play this mobile app that's been dumped on Steam. From a technical perspective, as a mobile app, this doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A really awesome narrative puzzle game set on a planet that your character is exploring. With simple, methodical mechanics you make your way through something of an archaeological dig to discover exactly why this planet is no longer inhabited. The puzzles are inventive and interesting, mainly having to do with the transference of energy through crystals. An excellent buy!

Got this as a gift, it's a lot less of a puzzle game than I expected. Seemed designed for mobile platforms? I'd give it a neutral review but we live in a black and white world. I'd try to play it again so I'll give it a thumbs up.

A fidget box of a game. It's a Myst Jr., The Room "slim" edition. Nice presentation, puzzles are not so much challenging as they are fiddly and are very prone to brute-forcing. The narrative is vaguely anti-imperialist, hippie pipe smoking nonsense (with an unnecessary cliffhanger - possibly due to budget constraints) Roughly 2 hours long. Take it or leave it.
