This is not an easy one to recommend. If you’ve read the description and other reviews, you’ll have a good idea of what’s going on. It’s a brutal story with a few different threads, but youthful ideals colliding with hard realities is a central theme. I’m no stranger to bleak settings, but this one is so oppressive that I nearly quit several times. You spend most of the game navigating a culture that has collapsed and folded over into a base, vile regression of itself, centered around the open-air dungeon that is the city of Ishtar. Slavery, depravity, and deception are the order of the day here. It’s so detestable that it almost seems a crime that the sun even rises over such a place. I can’t say I ever had “fun” here, but that seems not to be the intent. Credit where it’s due to the writers, they understand evil and are not afraid to depict it in unflinching detail. Lilitales, developed by TUNNEL No.73 and published by Kagura Games, is a dark fantasy role-playing game that blends emotional storytelling, dungeon exploration, and strategic progression into an adventure driven by loyalty, survival, and personal determination. Starting with the bad things, it feels like a weird male fantasy type narrative, and a lot of the story seems to focus some projection of women not having the intellectual capacity to be fully fleshed out humans, instead fully focusing on their physical desires. It's fine to focus on these things in a multidimensional way, but not when it's just a bunch of flat one-dimensional caricatures. The story was kind of interesting but the ending was just really sad - I thought it would be about overcoming these dehumanizing two-dimensional portrayals, but rather it's about you as the protagonist simply giving into them. I do think the setting was interesting and had a lot of fun/silly things that contributed to the gameplay - the combat and dungeon exploration was fun as somebody totally new to this genre. 10 out of 10! For what it is that's an excellent game with a very good story, art and gameplay. Damn you'd like to see it. It's great when developers take their work seriously no matter what type of game it is, all of the characters are really good, which is rare in these kind of games. Luna is a great protagonist and she has great side characters such as Airi and of course the returning Cless. It also has NG+ which is nice for people that actually care for such options. No need to play the prequel Lilipalace, this game stands well on its own. I recommend it to anyone with the time to spend on a fairly longer journey than other similar games you won't be disappointed.

A surprisingly good game. Jill, the princess of the Grants Kingdom, gets kidnapped by a group of evil bandits. Luna, the newly knighted warrior and Jill's friend, gets wrongly accused of her disappearance, declared a traitor and imprisoned. She escapes to try to find and rescue Jill by travelling to a slave city. Although the premise is somewhat generic, the story is interesting. The art is above average, MC and other female characters are likable. Losing a fight usually means the game is over, but you can continue playing from the point before the fight. Comes with post game which contains additional events for MC and 2 mini routes for other 2 female characters.
