With rather simple controls i'd atleast expect them to all work. However it seems that atleast for me the controls are not all working and make it impossible to do the tasks properly. As when I go to present an item to the first task person they seem to think i'm presenting a different item. Not recommended due to game not functioning right at the moment as even the escape/options menu does not work.

Lingua Franca is a really charming puzzle adventure that I liked because it gives a camera a much more interesting purpose than simply taking pretty pictures. I play as Asa, a young girl trying to prove that an alien is hiding in her neighborhood. To make her trap, I have to photograph the world around me and use those pictures to convince other people to help. The photography mechanic is easily my favorite part. I am not just taking pictures because the game tells me to. I have to pay attention to the environment and figure out what images might be useful to the people I am talking to. I liked this because it turns ordinary objects and scenery into potential puzzle solutions, which makes exploration feel more purposeful. Helping the neighbors also gives the adventure a nice sense of progression. Asa has to solve little problems around the neighborhood, such as helping a lost cat or bringing people together, before getting the materials needed for the larger plan. I enjoyed these smaller stories because they make the world feel more alive and give the central alien mystery some context. A short, cute game. It took me half an hour only because some of the choices you are expected to make aren't my first thought. Like, why do I have to show a picture of a poster with an apartment address to the guy at the apartment to give him the letter and progress when I can read the poster and go to the address and give him the letter? The environment is very whimsical, and I'd like to explore it more or see more of its objects utilized in puzzles (like the giant clocktower, the spinning takoyaki/octopus mascot, the arcade, etc) The character art and assets (especially cat model!! <3) are super cute, but the actual character models don't reflect the art's style entirely though. Overall, the puzzles are a lacking but seeing the art and environment is worth it. Lingua Franca's team put a lot of time, love, and effort into Lingua Franca, and I look forward to them creating more games.

Lingua Franca is a puzzle game all about taking pictures. Help a young girl capture an alien by finding the materials she needs to make her trap, photographing the world to get others to help her, and maybe even helping them along the way.

Cute game! I would love to play more games like this. Art style is good but the music does get somewhat repetitive over time. Simple controls, easy to use as long as you're using the correct item. 4.5/5
