About Lucky Hunter

After the catastrophe, the world became devastated, monsters roamed freely, crops could no longer grow. People had to rely on hunters to obtain the necessary water and food. It is said that all the disasters originated from a demon king. The legendary lucky hunter set out to hunt the demon king but never returned...

Under the old village chief's guidance, a young hunter, carrying chess pieces with magical power, set off on a hunting journey along the path once taken by the legendary hunter, bearing the hopes of the entire village. Become the lucky hunter who grows stronger with each battle, builds a unique deck, embarks on strange hunting journeys, and conquers powerful prey from forests, swamps, and volcanic regions to save this world on the brink of crisis!

As a lucky hunter who grows stronger with each battle, building a powerful deck, embarking on a unique journey of hunting, and conquering mighty prey from forest, swamp, desert, volcano and snow mountain.
  • Continuously make progress through procedurally generated hunting maps, carefully choosing routes to explore different nodes such as battles, shops, enchantments, events, and more.
  • Your pieces are automatically played onto the battlefield, and players will focus on matching and building unique decks and artifacts, fully exploiting the synergies between pieces.
  • When three same-level pieces are adjacent on the battlefield, they will automatically combine into a higher-level piece, forging an unbreakable force.
  • Gain new pieces every turn in battles, building your own powerful deck from over 100 pieces and 100 artifacts.
  • As battles last, the attack from the prey will become increasingly fierce. Eliminate opponents in time and strive to become stronger before death comes.
  • Regardless of success or failure, each adventure yields experience and lessons. Improve base attributes through external growth, and purchase unique piece packs that introduce new mechanics.
  • Hunting Journey: The standard mode includes four chapters, each ending with a challenging boss battle.
  • Endless Adventure: Challenge increasingly powerful prey with an ever-changing deck. How far you can get?

Lucky Hunter, developed by 159 Studio and published by indienova, is a roguelike deck-building experience that merges auto-battler mechanics with strategic route planning and procedural progression. Rather than placing emphasis on real-time player input during combat, the game challenges you to construct an effective lineup of pieces, manage synergies, and navigate branching maps that determine the rhythm and difficulty of each run. The result is a tightly designed loop built around preparation, adaptation, and the ever-present tension between careful planning and unpredictable luck. The game unfolds in a world ravaged by monstrous forces, where hunters rise to challenge increasingly powerful adversaries across diverse landscapes. Forests, deserts, volcanic regions, icy peaks, and corrupted territories provide environmental variety, though the narrative serves more as thematic scaffolding than as a deeply layered storyline. You assume the role of a hunter stepping into a legacy of conflict against overwhelming threats. While the plot remains understated, it reinforces the sense of progression as each successful run feels like reclaiming another fragment of a fractured world. Game…

This game is like a weird lovechild between Slay the Spire and Cookie Clicker. It's charmingly clunky, a bit confusingly translated, but all in all, very satisfying the more runs you play. If you like trying indie titles, the games I mentioned, and keep in mind that it is niche/clunky, you will probably enjoy it. It's cheap, cute, good, but far from polished. I think if it was better translated or the stats/mechanics explained more clearly, I would recommend it whole heartedly. A small update after 20+ more hours played: I can't stop playing it for some reason.

This game simply isn't fun at all. I bought it because it's on sale but it would have been nice to have a mac demo available (pc only...?) so that I didn't have to waste my time or the developer's getting a refund. The tool tips don't always make any sense, either I'm not understanding what the ability was supposed to do or it just doesn't work, but since this game isn't well made we'll never know. Good luck READING the tool tips, as the red and blue font on light grey is almost unreadable. This isn't really important but it's incredibly weird that the map looks fully ripped off from Slay the Spire, the bonfire and boss icons are exactly the same. I was willing to pay less than $5 for this game just to find out what it was about because it sounded fun but the execution was simply unbearable.

(A lot of time was just the game running in the background; stopped after unlocking all factions, but only unlocked a few of the other roguelite bonuses). One of the beautiful things about having a game where you mix-and-match various factions is seeing the way the different factions' cards and mechanics work together. Somewhere in Lucky Hunter's design, this was almost entirely lost; most factions are extremely parasitic (with effects that only benefit themselves or specifically rely on other named units) and the few cross-faction synergies that do exist are absurdly broken or rely on just stealing one busted card from another faction (Bugle Call + the sniper faction for instance). It feels like runs are mainly based on hard-forcing one or two cards and a specific mechanic, which isn't particularly interesting. The enemies almost all just blandly attack and there's nothing to consider when approaching them other than how much damage you can output and (sometimes) how much defense you can generate. There's also a layering issue where if cards merge after moving they lose all temporary bonuses, which is a "fun" massive RNG swing. Shrug.

Decent game, pretty straight forward. Casual option for people who just want to pick a strategy and stick to it.
