About Mage Ball
The inspiration for the creation of "Mage Ball" are classic arcade games from the 90s available on 8 and 16-bit home computers in which the player controlled balls, spheres and other oval objects. Stylistically and story-wise, I wanted to reflect the spirit of fantasy/sci-fi movies and books that I was the recipient of in my youth.
Game:
We control the eye of a magician who explores alternative dimensions. We jump on platforms, roll, collect magic potions, avoid traps and chasms. The main goal is to collect all "Knowledge nodes" in current dimension, which allows us to open a portal to the next one. In further stages we will have to confront the passage of time.

This game could be seen as too simple & archaic to be recommended for most audiences as this game is so simple in terms of scope this game might simply be rejected because its design can easily be resigned to the mobile gaming category as would be the expectation of most Steam Users but believe it or not I'm so glad this game exists on steam because it fills a niche I never knew I needed. This game does not embrace the quality of life expectations of modern games. Its fixed camera could be seen as the ultimate sin in these modern times and the graphic sound of a squished eyeball when it constantly jumps/hops could dismay those sensitive to such things. Lastly the platforming of the rotating platforms requires the good old fashioned trial and error to know the sweetspot of how the navigate them in succession as the physics can be seen as very loose and arcadey but there is one reason to love this game for it is like finding a game in a thrift store in 1995 and playing a game that could of been a addictive gem back on a windows 98 PC. I Know it sounds counter intuitive but for a certain gamer with a certain mind from a certain age this game screams a pleasant gem as if made long ago.…3 found this helpful
This game is pretty frustrating. I bought it because I thought it was a marble roller, but it's more of like a bouncy ball precision platformer, which isn't really my speed. I can appreciate any game though, and I gave it a solid chance and got to level 10, but as the levels go on they require such long periods of precision platforming that you can't take your time on because of a death timer you need to be getting pickups for. It feels unreasonably challenging with no checkpoints, and the setting, music, difficulty and constant squelching conglomerate into an utterly unique level of hell. It's not the worst thing I've played though, the movement is sound and I like the concept, but it would need some more accessibility for me to recommend it. If you like precision platformers a lot and are good at them you might like this, or I could see this being a good streamer game, but it's not for most people.2 found this helpful
