i finished the game and i loved the plot but playing it wasn't that enjoyable because fights ruined everything. Mechanics are great but balance and blocking modifying deck because of the limit of cards and "one time use" cards changing the minimum limit.... i would love to play the game again, but not with the balance like that. I hope it will be change so i can play it again.5 found this helpful
Who did this balance, I spent 2 hours in a blocked loop on first fight in stage 2 you can't ramp up like that while giving the users no way to refine. This is a hard blocker to your players.5 found this helpful

There is a lot of narrative so if you're a card player you might not like the amount, and if you're here for the story the card play can be brutal to new players. It's certainly a weird mix, so let's discuss each.
Story
First off, the game has surprisingly good voice acting so kudos for that. It's a fairly linear story (not a bad thing) with very average writing where each exchange between characters has to have a mandatory quip at the other person. The quips are not badly written and occasionally are clever, but it gets tiring very quickly. The storytelling is slow paced, without many twists and turns which makes it not that exciting to engage with. It doesn't help that it regularly introduces new things, but refuses to elaborate on it and characters often take their time to get to the point. That said, I like the concept that "magic" is tied to emotions and there is certainly potential to the worldbuilding. However, there is a mechanic that sh…4 found this helpful
I have played countless of card games, and this is a hit and a miss. Usually, when the deck building is defining for the combat balancing, the game often have some sort of quick way of moving you back to where you left of with a different build. Which is why the the rogue-like genre is a good fit when solving such problems. An unfair enemy just allows you to repeat and try again with a different build instead of feeling unbeatable. You learn and repeat. In this game, the deck building is more story driven. You are able to change your fighting deck before a combat from your collection of cards so far, but the cards are obtained through dialogues throughout the storyline. This means that, if I somehow picked cards to build a deck that makes it impossible to beat a combat encounter, im stuck. So, how can i approach this with a different build? I can't... unless i start over again, but I dont want to go through the full storyline again to get where I'm at. If i retry the story i would then learn that i have to choose the right CARD through options, rather than story investment, and suddenly i'm detached from the story as i'm only interested in not becoming stuck. One other thing th…3 found this helpful
People complaining about softlocks genuinely have a skill issue. They probably upgraded the basic strike to deal a WHOPPING 15 damage instead of 7 or smth The game is really great the art style is amazing and the story and lore are genuinely interesting. Can't wait to see you expand the Magin lore in future games 'cause it has a ton of potential. My only complaint is the ghost guy in the dungeons who offers you a card upgrade in exchange for a mandatory wound. I don't really see the point of taking this deal 'cause after the battle you'll almost certainly want to remove the wound that he gave you instead of upgrading another card or taking a special card. Imo if you can upgrade cards after battles this deal is almost always a waste and taking his second option a small permanent buff for the rest of the dungeon is almost always the better choice.1 found this helpful
