loved the game, story and all about the game. Just a bit dissapointed at the final showdown. Expected some final battle with all available characters you will get throughout the story (run), instead it was just fast cutscene and ending...

Very ambitious game in terms of story, character, and mechanics truthfully didn't appreciate the third act twist and when I thought I was almost finished with the game, it turns out I hadn't even really started. I just was not enjoying the game enough to replay through it multiple times for the "real ending." If I had more time on my hands, or was enjoying the moment to moment gameplay more, than I would be overjoyed that there was yet more game to play, but I really just wasn't. There plenty here for people who do have more time and enjoy this gameplay more. Shame because I really liked the story and the characters a lot more than I thought I would going into it. But I just don't care enough to finish my plate on this one.

Very lukewarm thumbs up. A mix of narrative, puzzle adventure game, resource management, and light tactics. I'm glad I experienced its eclectic mechanical mix and great production values, but ultimately the gameplay didn't land for me beyond the first hour or two and caused more far more bored "sighs" than enthusiastic "ahas". Dropped halfway through.

There's a lot of great potential here, but also a lot of cringy, moralizing dialogue that chastises you for not being good enough for the author's taste. Too much repeating dialogue breaks the immersion of the world. The choices with actual consequences are good, but not great. I was pretty hooked until midway during the first act, then I started getting bored and almost fell asleep during the Isenberg thing. I think this game's biggest sin is it's lack of game direction where they don't balance well the pacing of the card advancement beats with the music, cards, and card interactivity. The narrator's dialogue is 90% super cringe and I greatly dislike the parts of the story where I'm wandering around, playing cards and waiting for the story to advance. This game's a solid mediocre 5/10.

Foretales is a distinctive narrative card adventure developed by Alkemi and published by Dear Villagers that successfully combines strategic gameplay with an engaging fantasy story. Instead of treating cards purely as tools for combat, the game transforms them into the foundation of exploration, conversations, stealth, negotiation, and survival. Players assume the role of Volepain, a resourceful thief whose life changes after becoming caught in a prophecy that threatens the fate of the world. The journey quickly evolves from a personal struggle into a race against an approaching catastrophe, where every decision influences both the story and the lives of the characters encountered along the way. The game's strongest feature is its refreshing interpretation of card mechanics. Every location, character, object, and challenge exists within a card-based framework, allowing encounters to unfold in multiple ways. A hostile situation may be solved through direct confrontation, careful negotiation, clever deception, bribery, or simply avoiding conflict altogether. This flexibility makes each scenario feel like a tactical puzzle rather than a straightforward battle. Players are encouraged …
