About Mandew vs the Forever Rain+

Mandew vs the Forever Rain+ is a retelling of Mandew's original game and the first game release under the Suits & Sandals name, originally released on January 2, 2011.

Save your Farm!

Play as Mandew, a regular guy with a very irregular problem! An ever-present storm has been pelting his home for weeks and it's about time someone investigated. Mandew will face off against weird and wacky enemies as he follows the 'Forever Rain' to it's source.

Mandew will traverse 16 linear platforming stages, defeating enemies and collecting power-ups. Complete the game in STORY MODE and have your hi-score recorded on the Steam Leaderboards or aim for the top times in TRIAL MODE.

Unique Mechanics (We Swear!)

At first glance, platformer veterans will feel right at home in this game's world but Mandew has a few unique abilities up his sleeve:
  • Jump from a crouching position to perform a spring jump, allowing you to reach high ledges.
  • Jumping on enemies will increase your air speed! Chain jumps to really move!
  • Use Mandew's fire power-up to defeat enemies from afar and ignite things.
  • Use Mandew's hammer power-up to reflect projectiles and destroy blocks.

What's the Difference?

Mandew vs the Forever Rain+ features a mix of the game's original stages as well as remixed and new stages built from the ground up. A new OST by composer Jaxcheese and new collectable figurine capsules hidden throughout the game. The game has been updated to use graphics and mechanics from the third game in the series, Mandew vs the Upside Down Machine.

"Mandew vs the Forever Rain+" is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This is a pretty basic console-esque platformer where you control a guy trying to work out why it's raining all the time. Apparently a rehash of a much older version of the same platformer, which was never successful back then and this one is even less successful. In the modern era of high quality bleeding edge PC gaming, these kinds of flat, lazy, lackluster platformers just don't cut it. Platforming is a dead genre for a reason. Even though this is "free", it failed to attract any interest for gamers here on Steam Direct for obvious reasons. This game fails on the visuals because of the use of incredibly lazy, ugly pixelcrap. The developer would probably argue this is a "deliberate artistic choice" but we all know it's because the developer was incapable of producing anything better. The game looks very poor compared to professionally developed games. Whether t…

I came across this game after playing Colorless Curse, and I can honestly say that I like this one better, though it might be a bit unfair to compare them directly, since Colorless Curse was designed with a Game Boy aesthetic in mind. This game’s controls are more responsive, the power-ups work better, and the sprite animations are smoother. One thing I would critique is that the last few levels can be pretty unforgiving. However, with enough determination, I was able to push through and finish the game. The final boss is epic, though! Give it a try. It's free and fun.

For anyone who thought Mandew Vs. The Colourless Curse controlled a little stiffly, Forever Rain+ is more responsive, zippier, and more polished in pretty much every way. It may be short, and not super original, but it's a solid, challenging platformer with some great levels (particularly in the latter half of the game) for zero dollars. How can one complain?
