Marron's Day

A very cute and very charming little game that made me feel joyous. It does, however, have a really boring/slightly bad fishing minigame that I tolerated but did not enjoy too much. Most of the other side objectives were enjoyable or could be cheesed (pro tip: enter/exit/re-enter the train station area repeatedly if you want to grind for dandelions). There are many small quirks that somewhat weakened the experience but overall I was really engrossed during my whole playthrough and felt engaged with the world and its characters. :) My play time as I post this review is time spent for 100% completion. I played the game on Steam Deck and it mostly ran without issues. Some minor audio glitches which may be the game's fault or faulty hardware, I'd have to test. The game did also make scary loud noises at me when attempting to load the prologue (no soft-lock though, it corrected itself), and I suspect that's an issue with the ROM, but who knows.

I love Marron so much. It honestly feels low-key exhilarating to embody a character who can do all the weird stuff a Zelda-y adventure type game asks of you, without ever feeling like you're doing something that'd get you punched in the face if this was a real place. Marron's pigheaded and oblivious, while also charming and caring enough that the answer to "would I *really* do this, if I was this character" was always "yes". Another npckc banger!

Marron’s Day is a short but absolutely heartwarming Game Boy-style adventure that instantly brought me back to the Pokémon Red/Blue era — but with bunnies and festival prep instead of battles. You play as Marron, a little bunny girl living in a village full of animal friends. When the festival gets canceled, Marron takes it upon herself to rally the townsfolk, helping each of them with small, wholesome quests — fishing, potion-making, gardening, and more — so they’ll open a stall. The writing is cozy and sweet, the art is charmingly nostalgic, and the entire playthrough only takes around 1–1.5 hours, which makes it a perfect afternoon break. I ended up being so into the story, and it felt so satisfying watching the festival come to life with everyone I helped. 🌼 Highly recommend if you love chill vibes, retro pixel art, and community-centered stories.

No pressure, no chaos — just pure autumn-soul comfort. Honestly, it’s the kind of game that reminds you to enjoy the small things… and my chat adored every minute of it.
