About Master of Luna

Master of Luna is a turn-based strategy game where you take the role of a half-forgotten deity seeking to regain their former power and ascend once again.

Economy and Exploration

Your goal on the world map is to find and capture places of power and other cities as quickly as possible. You have to maintain a delicate balance between gold, mana, and rare resources—all of which are necessary for success.Once your economy is strong, your heroes are experienced, and you have mastered a few new spells, you can begin your conquest of the world and perhaps even take over the legendary lost temple.

Tactical combat

The second half of the game consists of battles between armies, where you have to prove your superiority in strength and tactics. Heroes will support you with a wide range of powerful spells, and unique abilities of creatures will help you develop a winning strategy.

Melancholic Vibe

Luna is a world of eternal twilight, illuminated by the blue light of two moons and shrouded in thick mist. Dreams and memories mean a lot in this place. The world has gone through many cycles of sleep and awakening. It’s ancient, so there are lot of mysteries, shattered ruins, heroes of old and eldritch artifacts.

Respectful Attitude

Master of Luna respects its players. You make few decisions, but they matter a lot. There is no micromanagement or tedious tasks. Feedback is instantaneous. At no point you supposed to just hit “End Turn” over and over waiting for some bar to fill up. Creatures have few abilities, yet they are tangible. UI is straightforward and uses the same scheme for world and combat. Important information is explained in tooltips.

A good attempt to blend Civilization and HoMM3 while fixing some of their shortcomings. It's not just a clone, but a reimagining with its own original ideas. Despite its Early Access status, I didn't encounter any bugs. At the time of this review, the game is stable and offers about 10-15 hours of content if, like me, you enjoy exploring new original games and replaying them at increased difficulty levels. However, once you master all the mechanics, the gameplay becomes somewhat repetitive, and there is still considerable room for improvement. It lacks variety in development paths, game modes, perhaps some form of campaign, and quality-of-life features. Nevertheless, the potential is strong. I will be monitoring future updates and hope the project evolves into a substantial, full-fledged game.

Love the very simple, beautiful, snappy graphics and UI. Would like to be able to see unit stats directly on the units instead of having to mouse over them...maybe pressing 'alt' could toggle stats to be visible.

This is game hits a pixelated sweet spot in my heart. It has a bunch of DNA from the original Master of Magic (MoM) and the early Heroes of Might and Magic (HoMM), which is delightful, but it's a different beast. The hero progression is full of meaningful choices-- no level is "just a stat boost". City growth is an interesting set of choices very dependent on your goals and what is available on the map. Each city growth choice is interesting since there are always many cool choices but never enough resources to do *everything*. The turn flow is smooth since pop-ups are minimal and when you hit T, the next turn is damn near instant. Enemy moves do not slow down the action. A few interesting points to note-- cities are like HoMM, you can discover and conquer them, but they cannot be built. They also change hands without any disruption, so you can take out defenders and just start building. To the MoM lover in me, this feels too gentle. But, since the factions are new up-and-coming gods, it has a mesopotamian feel to it-- new military comes in and kicks out the priests and life goes on. I miss the expansion aspects of MoM, since finding cool new place to settle was always fun. B…
