Brought to you as the brainchild of Ede Tarsoly - the sole man behind Elder Games - Meridian: New World was mostly received with disbelief and awe at the fact that it's a one-man production. While it remains true that Ede is the source of every detail of the game, some assets were created by his friends Balázs Bodnár, Tamás Gyermán and Gábor Menyhárt, who are credited with their contribution.
Warning: Broken Game! This game has design/implementation defects that will render this unplayable for many gamers. The game crashes to desktop with Microsft XNA related errors. It cannot be played.
Meridian: New World was an old (2014) RTS game, now 10 years old at the time of this review, and it's broken. As mentioned in the warning above, the game simply doesn't run. A quick look at the discussion forums for this game shows a HUGE list of gamers who tried to play this and couldn't. I can't blame people for wanting to try, RTS is a great and also badly underserved genre on Steam... so it makes sense so many people would have tried to play this and fail. I really wanted to try out the game myself. But here's the thing... gamers should not have to go throwing diagnostics at discussion forums just to play a game they paid for. Nobody should be applauding a developer for sitting on a forum and once every week or so responding to the dozens of gamers who can't launch the game they paid for. You know why? SOFTWARE TESTING. It is 100% the responsibility of the developer to TEST THEIR GAMES. It is 100% the responsibility of the publisher to ensure the…10 found this helpful
Iv noticed alot of negative comments which i dont think it deserves, i havent fully played through it but have played i honestly didnt mind it, Being a newbie indie dev myself using unreal 5 i have respect for the devs who actually make games that arent shovelware as i know first hand it isnt as easy as people think, and i believe respect is due for the hard work involved. Especially considering its one person making it and not some AAA company which has a ton of cash to spend on assets.5 found this helpful
Subpar RTS. By no means am I particularly immaculate at any strategy game, but I can usually limp across the finish line at most at the bare minimum. This game, at least story wise, is so incredibly unfair in its design that it punishes you most steps of the way. Want to route a destination for your units? Watch as they fumble through in the most un-optimal pathing often veering off of it to who-knows-where. Do you want your units to just sit tight? You’ll be damned sure they will follow an enemy unit who so much as grazes their vision to the ends of the planet. Maybe you just need a bit of extra time to set up before you can launch a proper offense/defense… well the enemy just somehow had pristine control and amassed 3x the forces you ever could. This doesn’t even regard the forced minigames in some sections that require you to build a turret defense against waves of enemies with limited and hardly recoverable resources, or sneak through an enemy base with a unit that does not want to follow the most simple pathing you set. Eventually I had to give up as the frustrations were not worth whatever uninspired story the game was trying to tell. At best the game does okay in any one ca…1 found this helpful
Runs great, good menus, combat reminiscent of StarCraft. Balance and timing of events is great so far. Immersive top-down command area replaces text menus. Definitely worth the price of a cheeseburger.1 found this helpful
Missions couldn't be cleared due to the fact, that required buidings aren't even available. Although not all texts are translated.
