Metal as Phuk is an indie role-playing game that proudly embraces outrageous humor, heavy metal culture, and retro RPG design with absolutely no intention of appealing to mainstream tastes. Developed and published by Crankage Games, it delivers an adventure that mixes classic turn-based combat with an abundance of crude jokes, absurd situations, and over-the-top characters. Rather than presenting a serious fantasy epic, the game thrives on parody and self-awareness, creating a world where every quest, conversation, and battle is infused with exaggerated personality. Players step into the role of Chael, the final surviving Paladin of the Metal Order, whose mission is to stop the sinister Dark Bards from unleashing the fearsome demon A'Marthius. While the central storyline follows a familiar save-the-world formula, it constantly twists expectations through ridiculous scenarios, making the narrative feel unpredictable and consistently entertaining. The game's greatest strength lies in its commitment to its unique identity. Every location is packed with eccentric NPCs, bizarre monsters, hidden references, and humorous dialogue that rewards players who enjoy exploring every corner of t…

Extremely funny, kinda gives off an older style of humour you'd see in video games and old-school YT. The assets are stock and the game plays like every other RPG Maker game but the fun comes from the dialogue. For the prize of an expensive coffee at Timmies I'd say this it's a good deal. Also, like watching an old comedy movie from the 90s/early 2000s, (think Dude Where's my Car? or Harold & Kumar go to White Castle) I recommend playing while high.

Loved it! Remapping the movement keys to WASD made it much more enjoyable as well.

A fun RPG-maker game. Your rewarded for exploring with extra experience and helpful items. The game does a good job of respecting your time and doesn't pad with filler. I was not able to get Fullscreen to work properly, so I had to use the Magnifier system in Windows to zoom in to get a Fullscreen. The game offers a fairly balanced difficulty, perhaps leaning more toward easy. You don't need to grind to progress, and I wouldn't advise taking on any extra battles as your characters will max at level 15 which you will likely hit at/near the game's end. Upon game completion, your rewarded with a steam achievement. Well worth the full price of admission, and if it's on sale, even better!

I normally wouldn't review a game I just didn't care for when there wasn't anything really wrong with it, in terms of bugs or other technical issues, and I definitely wouldn't be leaving a positive review but this is a special case. I was warned by the store page that this wasn't exactly high brow sophisticated humour, and that was fine by me. I've loved plenty of dumb things, and the promise of metal music and references got my attention. However I don't think I laughed, chuckled, or even did a nose exhale once in my nearly three and a half hours of playtime. The only things that even came close to amusing me were some of the references, turning my time with Metal as Phuk into a disappointing slog through slightly too difficult JRPG style gameplay. I know that's a me problem though, and I did get this game cheap on sale, so while I ultimately didn't enjoy it and didn't finish it I do respect it and I think it's worth recommending. I hope the dev has had a lot of success with their work over the years, I think it's deserved.
