About Metavaxx
Develop the ultimate vaccine in Metavaxx, the world's first minesweeper shooter!
Your mission is to train your new vaccine in a selection of various body samples. In each one, you'll have to identify infected cells using your minesweeper detective skills, and either shoot down those cells and the agents hidden inside them, or clear the way around them, only removing the healthy cells. You win when there are either only healthy cells remaining, or only infected cells remaining. The more cells remain, the more points you'll get to level-up your vaccine with unique upgrades!
Carefully choose the order of your body samples, select your upgrades wisely, and try to make the most efficient and accessible vaccine to save as many people as you can around the world.
Ask your doctor if Metavaxx is right for you!

A truly great game design is one that makes someone wonder how they haven't seen a game like this before. Shooters often require players to surgically weave between enemy projectiles, but they allow you to spray wildly if it allows you to survive. Precision in those games comes from memorizing enemy formations to maximize scoring. In Metavaxx, that's turned on its head - all twenty-five of these levels were hand-designed, with some of the largest having truly bizarre shapes for pieces that really make you slow down to examine which piece is touching more than the number of infected cells it displays. You'll have to work your agent deep into these narrow crevices, which really drives the point of the game's emphasis on surgical precision. There's so much tension in blowing up the wrong cell and then scrambling and weaving back out so you don't get clobbered by the twenty viruses that go everywhere, trying not to get swallowed up by sulfur fumes or by oxygen bubbles. As much as the game stresses you to learn which cells are and aren't infected, some are entirely locked in by other cells, making fights inevitable. My only complaint of the game is that while the concept of choosing on…1 found this helpful
A surprisingly great combination of genres, but lacking in depth. The core gameplay manages to keep all the fundamental mechanics of Minesweeper intact and combines with shooting to create a really fun action-puzzle hybrid that I believe does a great job of making a more casual introduction to the original game. With that being said the game lacks content. Levels feel mostly similar in terms of looks, gameplay doesn't change drastically even with the Rogue-lite elements, and the upgrades are minimal. Great bones, just needs some more meat.
Metavaxx, developed and published by PUNKCAKE Delicieux, is an inventive hybrid that combines methodical puzzle-solving with real-time action in a way that feels both unusual and surprisingly cohesive. It takes inspiration from classic grid-based logic games and reframes them within a dynamic, roguelite structure, asking players to think carefully while moving quickly. The result is a game that constantly pulls you between caution and urgency, rewarding those who can balance both without fully committing to either extreme. The gameplay unfolds across a series of grid-like arenas representing contaminated environments, where each tile holds potential risk. Much like traditional deduction-based puzzle games, players are encouraged to read patterns and infer which spaces are safe and which conceal danger. However, instead of slowly uncovering information at your own pace, you are actively navigating the grid in real time. This transforms what would normally be a calm, analytical experience into something far more intense. Every movement carries weight, as stepping into the wrong space or misjudging a situation can quickly spiral into failure. What sets Metavaxx apart is how it integ…
This game is a hot mess, and I have a love/hate relationship with it. The core concept is amazing. Reminds me of Microsurgeon on the Intellivision except now it's a twin-stick shooter. Brilliant. Minesweeper but if you guess wrong (or right, depending) you have to stave off a barrage of viruses. Love it. This game is so close to being amazing, but there's just so many tiny design decisions that derail it. The big levels are too big. The small levels aren't small enough, but don't have enough reward for beating what they are. The rewards for good play don't meet the effort required. The penalties for poor play aren't significant enough to avoid. There's a million tiny nits to pick but they add up and make what could have been an all-time twin-stick shooter into... one that's still hard to put down but not impossible to put down. For the price, strong recommend. It's very good. But it could have been *great*.
I love the game, the idea... it's excellent like Voidrun and plays in the same league. pls more of it ... it's unique!
I do recommend. Controller works really well on this. I like how there are unlock able starting traits. It only took me a few games and everything was unlocked, so I really don't see why others complain about the chemical marker starting trait being locked at the start.
