About Modules

Modules is a project by Maxim Zhestkov, where different forms of art – architecture, sculpture, film, and music – blend together to create an intense, interactive virtual experience.

Modules will expand to contain Maxim Zhestkov’s entire body of work. Over the course of years, the project will grow as he grows, expanding into new territories and blurring the boundaries between art, games, and reality. With experimentation at its core, it is Zhestkov’s playground, where he is able to refine his work with no end, challenging the limits of his own medium.

Features:
- Explore 11 rooms with unique audiovisual installations
- Discover the project with or without a VR headset
- Dive deeper with the artist’s voice commentaries about the project
Unique walking sim with abstract scenery filled with liquid like black spheres. A bit of storytelling and somewhat unusual concept. I was expecting something with a bit Antichamber vibe, but sadly it's just walking through modules (rooms). Definitely more interesting for VR with added depth. You might wanna check it out if you like abstract looking games but you will not miss much by skipping it.
The game is free, so I feel terrible about not giving it a recommendation. The artist comes across as pretentious and would have done well to script his dialogues to be more concise. The art to me was fairly basic and boring, except for maybe 2 of them if I am being generous, but of course that is merely my opinion. Also, the fps tanks in this game, especially towards the beggining.

Kinda interesting with some cool visuals. It also runs, though it's not well optimized, so it'll really tax your system on Ultra graphics. Advice to the artist, the audio logs are a bit long winded in my opinion. Likely only the most hardcore of artist will listen to them at the current length. Another option is to split them into multiple based on topic so people can pick. Just as an FYI, I listened to like 2.5hours of audio logs in the Baalbek Reborn VR experience, so it's not that I don't have patience, the content just needs to justify my time. I think most people feel that way. Still it's free, so give it a try if you want to see a few cool visual effects in a museum type game.

This is a cool little art installation... all in your VR headset!

A visual experience. Like an art gallery of 11 pieces with audio recording of an artist statement in each room. I wish more artists would do this with their works. Here, I get the themes and motifs of black/grey/white, lines/2D shapes/3D structures, descriptions of work's past/present/future, and so on. But I can't recommend this one. There's nothing particularly unique here relative to other VR experiences. I can appreciate that it is meaningful to the artist and, thanks to the commentary, can understand the vision he had and the journey he went on to create it. But it seems all fairly basic...can't say I connected with it.
