About Moorage

✦ AI summary

Moorage is a first-person fishing roguelite where you cast lines across nine biomes to catch over 150 bizarre fish species, complete your bestiary, and uncover the mystery of endless waves while stranded at sea. Blend rhythm-game fishing mechanics inspired by Undertale with crafting, character relationships, and roguelite progression as you return to your island base between voyages to grow stronger, bond with fellow survivors, and customize your home.

Moorage is a first-person 3D fishing roguelite where you play as a fisher lost at sea. Meet those stranded like you, craft using fish parts, and set out to find the source of the waves. Or, better yet, a way home.

CATCH FISH!

With over 150 different fish and 9 biomes to explore, you can catch anything from the humble sand smelt to a naval mine fish?? Complete your bestiary, find the most bizarre fish, and get tons of rewards!

NOT YOUR AVERAGE FISHING!

The core fishing minigame is inspired by Undyne's fight in Undertale and rhythm games such as Music Diver or Osu! Move the green bar to catch the incoming arrows. Catch them all to reel in a big one!

CRAFT, COOK, AND SURVIVE!

Use the excess fish you have to feed yourself or craft unique items. Additionally, you may meet some people on the water who can help you reach your destination...

LOSING MAKES YOU STRONGER!

Return to the island to explore, progress the story, and learn more about the people stranded here. Sell your fish, buy new rods, and select new modifiers to make your next fishing journey a good one!

CHARACTERS GROW, INTERACT WITH EACH OTHER, AND MAYBE... LIKE YOU???

Bond with the characters on the island! You can invite them on your boat and spend time with them. You could even spark a romance if you're feeling lucky.

CUSTOMIZE YOUR SURROUNDINGS!

Build structures on the island to make it pretty, or customize your boat with cosmetics!

SUPER promising game - Amazing music - Arts style is super nice - Fishing game is super polished and fun - Resource management is challenging but also fair - Despite being a rogue like there is very little "RNG" in my opinion in winning a run as they say "The Moorage you play the Moorage you win" - Devs seem nice and passionate about making the game better - Characters are well written and interesting Only real downside is that the game definitely feels early access in a couple of ways but obviously that is because IT IS IN EARLY ACCESS DUH a few things don't feel fully complete and their is a couple of bugs that have shown their ugly self but despite those I would say that without a doubt I have enjoyed what I have seen thus far and don't even slightly regret getting the game while being excited for new updates TLDR Moorage is PEAK game with huge potential and a seemingly great dev team

Where do I even start? Art? All of the areas you go to are stunning and all of the characters are very unique and well designed. Writing? All the dialogue is fun and charming, and the plot is pretty interesting. Music? The music for each area fits perfectly and there isn't a single bad song in the entire OST. I'm SO glad it's on Spotify. Gameplay? Very fun, and it's very cool that each boss has a different and unique gimmick based on the area that you're in. Overall? Banger. Gnarly, if you will. If you're on the fence about buying Moorage and reading reviews for an answer? Buy it. It is so worth your time, even in early access. I promise you won't regret it. Even though I've had such a great time playing the game, as I've been playing a few thoughts have entered my head that'd I'd like to share. Especially considering the game is still in early access, I thought now would be a good time to share them before the final release: I've played both on keyboard/mouse and controller, and generally I like both... in theory. It's kind of obvious to me that the game was built with keyboard/mouse in mind, and I think controller compatibility could use a little love imo. It would be nice…

I LOVE this game! I am a sucker for 8-bit retro style games and this game definitely hits that mark for me. I'm not gonna lie I have spent the majority of my time so far on the boat fishing! I know there's a whole dating/romancing/character interaction aspect, but I find myself getting lost in the the fishing grind (not in a bad way!) I find fishing to be just challenging enough to constantly keep me coming back for more. I've been playing for 13 hours and I'm excited to switch my efforts to character development and see watch the story unfold more. There is just SO MUCH bang for your buck with this game! It is worth every dime! If you like a unique fishing game that will NOT get boring and you want to figure out the MYSTERY of why you and this rag tag group of individuals got stranded on this island... you have to get this game. I highly recommend it!
