About Morph King
Developer's Note
MORPH KING began as a little experiment on an idea for a Chess variant, one that I wasn't planning on selling until the scope grew a bit. Please expect MORPH KING to be an arcade score-chaser game. Feel free to contact me through my email address or on Twitter with any feedback.

What's this?
MORPH KING is an arcade chess variant that has you control only one piece, but this piece is special: every time it moves, it morphs. Use this ability to outmaneuver predictable enemies, and don't let them swarm you!
Gameplay
- On your turn, you'll move your only piece, then morph into a random piece type (you can see the next 3 morphs).
- On the enemy turn, every enemy will move in perfectly predictable ways.
- For every enemy you capture, you gain a score point, successive captures increase the points gained.
- If you get captured, you'll be locked as a King for some turns, if you're captured as a King, it's game over.

Features
- Master the ability to morph and use it to escape sticky situations.
- Use a come-back mechanic creatively to not just avoid death, but take out pesky enemies.
- Determine the patterns of enemy pieces, then exploit them.
- Last as long as you can in Endless mode, as difficulty increases.
- Score as many points as you can in 60 seconds in Bullet mode.
- Find creative solutions to quickly beat randomized waves of enemies.
- Listen to piano covers of traditional Russian folk music.

I haven't logged a ton of hours yet, but I find myself coming back and playing a few rounds of bullet mode whenever I'm looking to kill some time and don't want to commit to a longer game. Quickly taking pieces is satisfying, and taking multiple pieces in a row by making clever use of your morphs is even more so. The depth that comes out of the modified chess rule set really takes you by surprise (in a good way, if that wasn't clear). This game feels like a really nice addition to my Steam library.3 found this helpful

Disclaimer: My rating on this game as of the time posting this is *mixed*. A very entertaining concept, but unfortunately the novelty wears off quite fast due to the lack of different modes. I initially thought the difficulties would add on new quirks and allow enemies to make longer moves, but it's literally just more enemy spawns. Additionally, most of the achievements (except for Quick Thinking, which was more reliant on resetting games until you got the magic run) were quite easy and left a lot more to be desired. It only took me 2 hours to complete everything, but I felt like I was playing something worth more around $1 of content. I think it's worth checking out and giving it a shot, but for those really looking for something challenging and engaging, you won't find much here.2 found this helpful
A fun and relaxing puzzle game based on chess. Just don't let the computer player get a bunch of queen pieces all at once, or you're done for! Gameplay is interesting and pretty well-balanced. Even if you get captured, you live as a king for a few moves, and if you can survive through those, you're still morphing and continuing your round.
