About Laysara: Summit Kingdom
Laysara: Summit Kingdom is a challenging city builder which tasks you with creating a new home for your people forced out of the lowlands. During a campaign or sandbox playthrough, you will establish multiple towns, each on a unique mountain with its own traits. All your towns co-exist in symbiosis, creating a trading network, which you can then adjust to your needs by revisiting already developed settlements. The Kingdom of Laysara has to be rebuilt!
If you manage to endure all mountain dangers, build a network of efficient production chains and satisfy all needs of your people, there is only one more thing to be done: conquering the mountain peak! To succeed in this great endeavour you’ll need to reach the summit and establish safe routes for your carriers to bring in enormous amounts of building resources, but beware! Weather at this height is as deadly as ever. The final effect is well worth the effort though, as raising the summit temple is an act of total triumph of human courage (and your logistics skills!) over the elements.
Final note: the game is a pure city building experience solely focused on the economy, resource management and surviving despite the inhospitable environment. Therefore, the game doesn’t feature combat or any other military aspects.
BUILD ON A MOUNTAIN
Each mountain comes with a new set of challenges. Mounts differ in shapes, vegetation zone layouts, resource availability and weather conditions. Sometimes you will have plenty of room for farming in green lowlands, sometimes you will need to rely on breeding and extracting valuable minerals from regions dangerously close to peak glaciers. If you find yourself in dire need of a certain resource, you can always try to establish a trading route with another town.DEAL WITH AVALANCHES
One of the ever-present dangers you will have to deal with are mighty avalanches. You can’t stop them, but you can take precautions and be prepared. Afforest the key areas to create natural barriers, build artificial ones to redirect rushing masses of snow, or trigger the avalanche early, while it’s still manageable. Create a deliberate and reliable strategy and you might even be able to use the power of snow to your advantage; fail to do so and find your city buried and devastated!CRAFT A TRANSPORT NETWORK
So, transporting goods is easy, right? Well, not if your destination lies on the other side of the mountain, a few hundred meters higher, behind cliffs, ridges, canyons and rivers. You will need to create a vast, complex transport network consisting of roads, bridges and shafts to ensure reliable delivery chains. As demand for resources will grow alongside the town’s population, always look for opportunities to optimise your transportation network, be it by building paved roads, using more advanced lifting constructions, or aiding your carriers with glamorous yaks.RAISE A SUMMIT TEMPLE
DNF. Got softlocked on the final level of the campaign. Because, for some insane reason, the game does not have a "restart mission" option, and does not set aside the save for when you start a new level so it cannot be accidentally overwritten by you when you save manually; why would I want my manual save to be under "Mission 13 Completed" instead of my own name, game? This is all a problem for the campaign because building a town and completing a level is all about reaching certain resource benchmarks, and since you are building on the side of a mountain your space is extremely limited. But the levels introduce new game mechanics and resources and objectives in the middle of levels. So you'll be progressing, building a nice town, and the game will order you to build a giant building. So you destroy a bunch of houses since, as stated before, space is extremely limited, and the game complains about a lack of workers and penalizes you by completely draining your funds, resulting in a game over. In a game all about limited space it could do more to at least make it easier to move buildings arounds at least. This problem is compounded by a lack of information and overlays. Laysara: Summit Kingdom is a city builder where the player must build settlements on the slopes of a mountain, with the ultimate goal of constructing a huge temple at the mountain’s peak, which the people believe will please the gods enough to dispel a strange mist which has covered the lower lands. Each town contains three castes of civilians – lowlanders, artisans, and monks, who work in different types of buildings, with some other jobs being performed by yaks. You’ll need to build houses to increase the number of available workers, and then support their needs by supplying multiple types of food, commodities, and enlightenment. Houses which have multiple needs fulfilled can be upgraded several times, to further increase their capacity. Each type of food or commodity has its own production chain with separate buildings responsible for gathering raw materials and converting into finished goods. In addition to this you’ll need buildings relating to storage and distribution, research, gathering taxes from civilians, and buying or selling goods to a trader. And you’ll need to protect buildings by creating barriers to block snow avalanches which can fall from higher up the moun…9 found this helpful
Very chill even for a city builder. The main focus is on supply and production chains for a very Factorio-like feel. You can also shuffle buildings around for free rather than pay to have things demolished and rebuilt someplace else.1 found this helpful
There might be a good game in here b ut considering it crashes on every loading screen and I have not been able to play, I can't actuall say. Refunded.
It's a pretty fun, cozy, relaxing game. It's actually a puzzle game in disguise. Entertaining but a bit repetitive and monotonous after the first half the campaign. ~7/10
Surprisingly solid game
