About MR. ELEVATOR

"BitSummit 2024 Sponsor Award PlayStation®PRIZE, INNOVATIVE OUTLAW AWARD NOMINEE"This is an adventure game where five protagonists—men and women who boarded the enigmatic talking elevator, "Mr. Elevator"—solve puzzles in a mysterious otherworld they are lost in, searching for what each of them seeks. Freely explore the unique world, drawn in the style of early Windows Paint software, and thoroughly enjoy the puzzles that appear before you.I'm Mr. Elevator.
Are you looking for something?
If you're in trouble, I might be able to help.
It seems that five men and women have wandered in here.
Are you... looking for someone?

There are many doors lined up. Let's try knocking or hitting them.
Oh, the door opened.
Sometimes you may walk in the dark,
And in vast fields, you may encounter strange creatures or stone statues.
Does a broken smartphone have any use?
This looks good for turning screws.
Sometimes you might hold a book and think about how to use the items you found,
And you might listen to a walkie-talkie.
How is it? Do you think you'll find what you're looking for?
If you like, you can take your time to find what you're looking for.

I'll always be watching over you.■How to Play (Press Esc to show)Move: W, A, S, D

✦ AI summary

Players praise this puzzle game for its creative mechanics, unique aesthetic, and clever logic-based puzzles that reward pattern recognition and problem-solving. However, the localization to English is a significant drawback, with poorly translated puzzles and audio-based challenges deeply rooted in Japanese linguistic conventions that are confusing without consulting external resources, compounded by the lack of subtitles and robotic speech-to-text narration that reduces immersion.
It's a fun game, but not enough care was taken in localizing to English.
There are many puzzles which are poorly translated (oddly enough, the translation puzzle falls into this category), which make perfect sense if you then check out the Japanese hint website, and only after consulting multiple translations. Even the made-up language for the aural translation puzzles are deeply rooted in Japanese linguistic conventions (essentially Japanese gibberish, which again, will either take some time or a background in Japanese, which I luckily have). Combined with the clunky speech-to-text narration, it's not all that immersive of a game. The fun comes from puzzles which rely strictly on pattern recognition, problem-solving, and intuition- not those which necessitate endlessly translated hints. So overall: a unique aesthetic and a fun game with a glaring caveat. I cannot recommend this to native English speakers.

Clever games curator review: 8/10. Adventure game / escape room featuring logic puzzles and semi-frequent auditory cues. When I first played this game I hated it and was tempted to delete it and never come back at least twice in the first 15 minutes. This largely stemmed from the very unusual user interface, and just some odd conventions for how the puzzles work. However: then I got into the groove, started to grok how the developer’s mind worked, and… Now I love it. With some reservations. This is one of those fairly ubiquitous puzzle games where you progress through a series of rooms trying to figure out how to escape to the next set by solving logic puzzles and the occasional environmental/object puzzle. There is little-to-no backtracking. Often, especially early on, there’s also very little idea of what you might be expected to try and do to progress. However, as you get into the game’s rhythm, it becomes pretty clear what kind of tasks you have to do, and what kinds of things to try. A very common theme which I think is a fairly tiny spoiler is that audio cues are pretty important to solving a lot of puzzles. The…

Spoiler-free is a subjective concept, but in my opinion, this review is "spoiler-free" in the sense that I wouldn't feel like I had anything ruined for me if I had read it before playing the game. A couple puzzle-specific spoilers are included (but kept mostly vague), but they're hidden behind actual spoiler tags. Overall a great puzzle game if you enjoy non-standard, out-of-the-box puzzle games that largely leave you on your own to figure things out. The puzzle difficulty varies quite a bit; there were some puzzles that left me feeling "oh, it's over already? I wanted to keep using what I learned" after solving them, but there were also some where I needed some assistance to reach the solution due to some unsatisfying leaps in logic. I didn't use the in-game hints so I can't speak for how much they help; I instead looked to a friend who'd already 100% cleared the game. I think this kind of game is best when streaming to a friend who can provide hints in order to avoid getting overly frustrated when a puzzle doesn't "click" with you and you get stuck on it for a while. I had a great time with the game overall and I hope it gets more reviews and more traction. It's currently a bit…

The best game I played lately! Really nice puzzle game, with unique controls and puzzles. Art style is a huge plus, hard edge colors are rare to see, but this game uses them in a way that doesn't hurt eyes as much as you would expect. Certainly worth to jump into this game without thinking Only bad thing is lack of subtitles - as game has plenty of sound based puzzles - devs didn't added any subtitles - but that makes English voice hard to listen. Maybe that would change, but so far either have to make voices louder or use Windows built-in Captions (Accessibility)
