About Mundaun
Mundaun is a hand-penciled alpine horror adventure where you explore a mysterious valley full of secrets, solve environmental puzzles, and survive encounters with sinister creatures while your own fear physically slows your movements. The game's stunning hand-drawn aesthetic and immersive world design make navigating between reality and myth feel genuinely unsettling and unique.

Key Features
- Experience a unique hand-penciled aesthetic, and immerse yourself in an alpine world where reality and myth intertwine.
- Explore varied and open levels from green meadows to snowy peaks. Beware of the creatures roaming the landscape.
- Robust inventory system to keep you focused on collecting and uncovering the story’s secrets.
- The game’s fear resistance factor creates a “cause and effect” for the player within the game. The stronger the fear, the more slowly you move.
- Solve puzzles that are integrated into the game world as you make your way up the mountain.
- Interact with eccentric inhabitants who have their own obscure spoken language.

Mundaun is praised for its distinctive hand-drawn pencil art style, atmospheric folk horror setting with Romansh voice acting, and engaging exploration and story that rewards discovery. However, players consistently criticize the awkward and frustrating combat system, poor enemy AI that attacks from excessive distances, and occasional camera issues, though these mechanical problems don't completely overshadow the unique experience.
Amazing and haunting atmosphere and environment. Very eerie and unnerving. Playing this, you clearly feel that something had gone very wrong in this town. The art style is unique and fits very well in this folk-like story. The only bad parts in my opinion is the camera when in the Muvel, which is nausea inducing and the combat, which is very out of place and janky. It needs a complete rework or removal. Other than that, a very interesting and unique game. If the trailer sparks interest in you, you will find this experience enjoyable.
Quite surprising game with unique art style. The gameplay is simplified and it has a unique story. I enjoyed discovering the bits and the exploration. It has a few scary parts but nothing too scary, couple jump scares here and there.
Mundaun is a pretty unique indie horror game with a very striking hand-drawn visual style. I love the folk horror story and exploring the small open regions. It's clearly a love letter to the local culture and people of the Swiss Alps. Some of the game mechanics are a little awkward, such as the combat and enemy AI, but it shouldn't put you off from experiencing this indie gem. 7/10
My dear Mundaun: A very interesting Folk horror story with Romansh voice acting from start to finish that fits the game's tone perfectly. I loved the unique story that I enjoyed more and more while discovering it, and the gorgeous pencil hand-drawn art style. Now there is one thing that I absolutely hated about this experience: the sh*tty enemy AI. The first area mobs literally can attack you from miles away; hitting them doesn’t even work, and the only viable option being to break line of sight was very bothersome, especially when sometimes I didn't even see the enemy until he attacked me. These kinds of issues also persist in the game while facing other enemies. A lot of the encounters I had were degrading my experience; trying to get the water for the coffee, or driving the truck while having to cheese the dumb hay enemies was sooo tilting. The general tone of the game is able to give you this eerie feeling alone, and I wish mobs were approached in a different way. Apart from that, while exploring this folktale, surrounded by scary eldritch beings, I felt a very soothing feeling while preparing the coffee, watching the Alps, or listening to some yodeling while driving the…
I have mixed feelings about this one. The strongest point of this game is that it has a very intriguing story and a lot of exploration to do, it's also pretty bizarre in general terms which I like, so if you're into that sort of things you'll find it quite enjoyable and i would recommend it on those terms alone. But it's weakest point it's the combat system which it's terribly dumb and more annoying than anything else, since enemies can attack you from distance and you also can just sneak pass them or run away from them, so the whole thing it's kinda pointless. So to sum it it's a nice experience if you're looking for bizarre horror story but it's not great either.
a genuinely phenomenal and unique horror experience that I cannot recommend enough, not only are all the art/textures/everything hand-drawn with pencil on paper but the game and story themselves are both extremely engaging. some have criticized the puzzles as 'obtuse' but honestly I don't see them as being more or less obtuse than any other survival horror game (looking @ you Silent Hill series). the game ran mostly fine on my aging system outside of consistent crash screens when exiting the game, which never really ended up impacting gameplay and was also very likely is a product of unrelated problems on my system. fully worth the $20 but even more worth it if it goes on sale, don't sleep on this one!!
