About Nightwatch: Nightmare Creatures

Nightwatch: Nightmare Creatures is a cooperative horror game for two players. You can, of course, try to cope alone, but be prepared to work for two.

There are two characters in the game - an Engineer and a Security Guard who go to a secret underground bunker of the EarthY company. From that moment on, they are responsible for maintaining the safety and operability of the underground complex at night.

Your task will be to restore and repair the equipment responsible for maintaining oxygen and electricity in the complex, as well as... avoiding victims of megacorporation experiments. The game consists of 6 shifts with different difficulty levels and the 7th one is fully customizable.

You can play either alone or with a friend in split-screen mode (you need a controller compatible with XInput or Steam, it is also possible to play with 2 controllers), or online (both via Steam and without).
Warning: Asset Flip! Nightwatch: Nightmare Creatures is a Digital Homicide style asset flip, or what Valve calls a "Fake Game". The "developer" paid for/pirated a few Unreal Marketplace assets, dumped them all in a blender, and submitted it to Valve as if they're real game developers.
Two notable criteria for what makes an asset flip instead of legitimate use of stock assets are whether those assets comprise the majority of the game, and whether the "developer" properly credited the people who created most of the assets in the game. This game fails both of those tests. The "developers" here didn't credit any of the artists and real, actual game developers who created the assets here, so this is plagiarism, as well as cash grab shovelware. In this case, the asset flipper took a basic Unreal horror adventure blueprint and tried (and failed) to make it into a 2 player FNAF ripoff, but make no mistake, the plagiariasm is all there, this is from a known Russian asset flip scammer. It has no value or merit as a real game. CaTaTo/Piece Of Voxel have shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's …

Game has a nice premise especially with the co-op fnaf type game. But it needs work. I do not recommend the game in its current state What needs work: > In co-op, you need to be able to switch roles. Being locked to the chair is not fun at all > The sound mechanic, I do not hear the guy until he's right on top of me. This guarantees my death or just running around hoping something happens. > Doors are painfully slow to go through, he goes through them fast. You die, no escape > The simple recording for the power system does not fully explain that the information required to restart the system pops up on the surveyor side, not the computer that's right in front of you. > When the monster goes into the surveillance room, it is instant death for the surveyor, even if the mechanic just walks right through all la-de-da. That kills the fun of a run > The random background ambiance is annoying and does not add to the experience whatsoever. Silence is better than the random down-pitched moaning. Bugs: > In co-op when trying to start a new round after failing, the mechanic will have a black screen and cannot see anything

In its current state, I would not recommend this game. The game's premise is good, I do think that its a fun idea, yet the execution of it isnt fully realized. In co-op, being locked in to the engineer role or the chair role is not good game design, you should be able to swap with your partner on a whim. The audio cues are difficult to interpret as the sound seems to permeate around the entire map making the sound-based gameplay janky and frustrating. There is one gamebreaking bug that I have come across when playing engineer in co-op; After everyone dies and you click restart, the engineer is locked to a black screen. You can still hear, move and see the HUD, but everything else is black, which forces a restart back to the main menu. There is also some lack of clarity with what you should be doing, where to find spare parts, and how to repair things which a tutorial would help with. Overall, I would like to see this game fully realized!
