Pacifish: Recast is an incremental fishing game that tries to strike a balance between idle progression and active player involvement, reworking its original concept into something more interactive and layered. Developed and published by Conifer Studios, it presents a deceptively simple premise—catch fish, earn resources, and upgrade your capabilities—but gradually expands into a network of interconnected systems that keep the loop engaging, at least in its early stages. At its foundation, the gameplay revolves around fishing as a primary resource generator. Each catch contributes to a growing pool of materials that can be reinvested into upgrades, allowing for faster and more efficient progression. What sets the game apart from more traditional idle titles is how it encourages frequent interaction. While it can run passively, meaningful progress often depends on active decision-making—choosing upgrades, managing systems, and responding to different mechanics as they unlock. This creates a rhythm where the game is neither fully idle nor fully hands-on, but something in between. As the experience unfolds, additional mechanics begin to layer onto the core loop. Meh. I actually don't really like the game. Pacifish 1 was a very good game. This one is just a worse version with a price tag. Barely any new textures. Felt a bit like a copy paste, and I know this is not Pacifish 2, but it's just sad. It kinda feels like the dev wanted to add new features 3 years later and decided to just upload the same game. The "added features" are a farm where you can plant and collect crops every 12 hours (wow!). Of course, you can get upgrades, and in the end I managed to decrease that time by a whole 30 minutes. You can fish in the orb (from Pacifish 1). It takes about 5 minutes, and then you never have to open it again. And finally the moon mechanic. A very good mechanic if any upgrades were actually affordable. Now onto the "complete rebalance". Sadly not a good thing. I have no idea why you would indirectly want to admit to making the game progress slower. The late game feels like torture. Oh, and I hope you enjoyed the fight mechanic in Pacifish 1 because... it's completely unplayable now until you reach EAT Level 45! I do have to admit to abusing a bug where you can buy and sell the same item for profit to complete the endgame. I understand if you thi…1 found this helpful
it's an okay day or two if you get it on sale
This is a bad game. It is poorly made with many inconsistencies and bugs. The interfaces are primitive at best. Most of the gameplay is pure idling with zero player impact, and the few decisions you can make are barely noticeable or have almost no meaningful influence on the gameplay. You could easily achieve 100% in a few days of thoughtful idling with the occasional check in. Do not waste your time or money on this glorified waiting simulator.
maybe the best game in the world if you like idle fish games and gambling
