Panda City is a small-scale city-building and management game developed and published by lopogames. Released in 2021, it takes the familiar foundations of the city-builder genre and gives them a playful identity by replacing ordinary citizens with pandas. The central objective is straightforward: develop a functioning settlement on a limited island while attempting to keep its inhabitants happy. Rather than encouraging unrestricted metropolitan expansion, the game emphasizes working with a confined amount of land, creating an interesting relationship between population growth, available space, housing, and the various demands made by the pandas. The restricted island is an important part of the experience because it prevents construction from becoming completely thoughtless. As the settlement expands, players must consider whether new residents and buildings can comfortably fit into the remaining territory. This makes efficient land use increasingly relevant. The concept complements the game's management and strategy elements, since creating the ideal settlement involves more than simply placing buildings whenever they become available. Players are effectively trying to balance co…

I wanted to give this a chance but the bar for applications eligibilities of being listed in the Steam Store Store is way too low, it seems. Yes, it is free, but so are many actual working apps and games, for browser, iphone, PC, etc. This does not belong here, it's not even early access. Less than 10 seconds in, I am greeted with the sound of my soundcard threatening to crash. And it was not the last time it happened. The main menu's Options crash the game. Every. Single. Time. And the -w and -h advanced launch options from Steam just don't work. Clearly this game is for hardcore oldschool gamers still using 640x480 on their CRT screens. Then while in a New Game, there is no Escape to get you to the main menu. Just Alt+F4 I guess? The UI is an absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, with nothing stopping you from leaving dialog windows open and overlapping, which would be fine if we would be able to move them and arrange them in a neat fashion where they are readable. https://imgur.com/a/NwYNtTw Cus asking the UI to auto arrange is so 2005. And this game has UI worse than games made in 2000. There's also a big fat X in the sky, just hovering over the stuff I build, cus of course everything is bugged i…

This game is pretty nice overall. All I wish they would add is just some minor things like a custom workshop to post maps and make custom buildings for you're city, as well as some AI updates since they can get stuck in certain places. I would recommend if you're a type that likes to build a world around yourself.
