Paranautical RNG Madness !
[b] Paranautical Activity is a not so bad FPS/Roguelike hybrid from 2013. This game combines the classic FPS formula from the 90s with some difficulty and total randomness of more modern rogulikes to a rather mixed but still somewhat decent results. Did i have fun with this game ? Yes , i did. Was it frustrating most of the time ? Yes , it was. Did i like the game overall ? Yes , i did. So lets start with the positives , shall we ? The core gameplay in this game is really good and somewhat addicting especially for the lovers of the older FPS games (Doom , Quake , Blood etc.). Right out of the gate (or in our case - out of the elevator) you feel like you're home. The main aesthetic and graphics looks like modernised versions of your beloved 90s shooter. Same with movements , weapons and all other stuff - quick jumps , dashes , sound effects. Of course it doesn't look EXACTLY like shooters of the past but the style is definitely here. The game has 6 characters/heroes in total + secret Mystery Man. All of them have their own playstyle , stats and weapons. Tank , for example , is a slow character but has a lot of health right from the get go + s…

Forewarning, this game has been abandoned. That being said, it's still a really fun roguelike with heavy focus on movement for $10

Paranautical Activity: Deluxe Atonement Edition is a frenetic and uncompromising hybrid that fuses classic run-and-gun first-person shooter design with the harsh, unpredictable structure of a roguelike. Developed by Digerati Distribution and published by Digerati, this revised edition represents both a mechanical refinement and a symbolic relaunch, aiming to refocus attention on the game’s raw, adrenaline-driven core. From the moment a run begins, it is clear that Paranautical Activity is less concerned with polish or accessibility and more focused on delivering constant forward momentum, aggressive enemy encounters, and a relentless demand for player awareness. The foundation of the experience is its moment-to-moment combat, which draws heavily from old-school FPS sensibilities. Movement is fast, gunplay is immediate, and survival depends on strafing, positioning, and rapid target prioritization rather than cover systems or regeneration. Enemies fill rooms quickly, often attacking from multiple angles, forcing players to stay in motion and react instinctively. This pace is intensified by the roguelike structure, where death resets progress entirely, making every decision feel con…
