Super House of Dead Ninjas

I got into SHoDN back in 201X and decided to dust it off in 2026 for another spin. I have some negative nitpicks about some aspects of the game's design and unlocks (game is sorta old and it's whatever), but overall, this is an arcade-y classic for sure. The "in the zone" feel you get from descending the tower while keeping your rage meter filled is super addicting. The visuals are also really cool. Now, listen to me, ok? The DLC. [b]- My. BELOVED. Scythe. -[/b] GOTTT DAMNNN. This beautiful weapon... there's a small learning curve to overcome but it turns SHoDN from a fun game to [i]crack cocaine[/i]; it's ridiculous. I like playing really fast and the gameplay is already naturally fast; but with the scythe equipped, your APM effectively quadruples and you start absolutely ZOOMING through floors. Mashing melee 50 times a second and doing some jump-dash-down spike cancel tech that catapults you through the sound barrier. Using the scythe makes up like 80% of my enjoyment of this game. Completely worth the utter destruction of my fingers. 10/10 Would dash into spikes again.

greatest piece of fiction ever written

The game may not be for me but for people who like the fast paced platformer genre i can't deny that they would probably love this game. It's difficult but also very satisfying if you can get a good clean run in.

Fun, fast, casual, and very entertaining. Simple yet well made. Great for between rounds of larger games.

A really fun roguelike, I can't believe I slept on this for over a decade. If there's one downside, it's that the game is zoomed out a bit too much for a laptop screen; it might be better if you have a larger monitor.
