Quite the cool game but I did feel it was a bit easy. Beat my second run (died in spikes the first). Haven't gone for the frost book yet though.

This is a game I wish I could forget.. just so I could experience it for the first time again. It has such a neat vibe and even years after I played it, I still think about it occasionally. Since you're always on the lookout for monsters, the atmosphere kinda sucks you in. Definitely give this one a try, especially if you like HP Lovecraft!

I did not enjoy this game. Outside of the theme the gameplay is really basic and not very fun.

Fun game, doesn't overstay it's welcome (I left my pc on, only really played for 3 hours or so). In the first 15 minutes I thought the game was a waste of time, but it ended up being well-worth it. It has fun mechanics and the art/music manage to create a tense and mystical atmosphere. It does a good job of capturing that tense, scrappy feeling of being a weak explorer encountering eldritch horrors. This feels like a little bite of what could be a much more fleshed out experience.

It's alright. My favorite part would be the gameplay, but it got pretty repetitive by the end. The first good run I had was my favorite, but trying to get to that point again was never as fun. This could just be me playing roguelikes wrong. I get the procedural generation is supposed to spice it up, but the lack of any really interesting mechanic made every run feel too similar. I just ran around until I found what I needed (the items/kits/boots never made that big an impact) until I died to something unexciting (enemies that do 2 hearts of health or getting stuck on a spike or consecutive tripwires). Still, moving around and fighting felt nice, and the vibe of the game made for both tense and goofy situations. Visuals were Minecraft-adjacent, yet charming. I think the use of color in the different levels was very pretty. The story was whatever. I wish some minor lore was given to each level to tie it into everything else, but it's clearly not the main draw. Overall, I'd recommend it because of its goofiness, visuals, and ok gameplay. I personally had a meh time with it, but roguelikes just might not be for me.
