Peace of Evil

I’m a fan of MangaGamer’s games and have been for a while, therefore I jumped at getting the chance to experience [url=https://www.gamepitt.co.uk/peace-of-evil-pc-review/]Peace of Evil,[/url] one of their recently published titles. The artwork simply left me stunned and I couldn’t wait to get to know the girls better. While MangaGamer is well known for the high-quality games they usually publish, I have to say that Peace of Evil left me with a sour taste in my mouth as it didn’t live up to my expectations. It’s important to note that Peace of Evil is currently incomplete and it’s not exactly clear whether the developer, Tamaya Kagiya, is intending to finish it in the near future. The full story can be read over on their Discord, but it appears it started life as a Kickstarter, which was fully funded, then someone left before it was finished and took the money. The remaining staff pieced together what they had completed to try and create a finished product, but it really isn’t. Let me start by saying that I have a burning hate towards reviews that begin with the words ‘I tried to love this game, I really did’. It is an irrational feeling, but I just cannot help it. However, this visual novel is the unique case where I have just nothing else to say. So, why did Peace of Evil disappoint me so badly? I was looking forward to playing this game, I gave it a chance and tried not to judge it too harshly. However, no honest reviewer in their right mind would post a positive review about an obviously incomplete story. I still do not understand why developers decided to go with this version instead of taking more time to actually finish the game, but there is nothing I can do about it. an outright fantastic game plagued by some serious development hell, and unfortunately unfinished : < that said, the ending actually is in a good spot for... well, being unfinished. there is quite a good amount of story to read first though, and i loved it a lot! the music and art are fantastic, the writing (both setting and such as well as dialogue) are fantastic, and i love almost all of the characters! Lexi especially , but the protag Aeric and Kraus are also very entertaining i love the characterisation so much! there is a bit of limit with background art - for example when story is night but bg is day, but to be honest, that doesn't bother me much. final rating is a pain - the last update suggested they will be working on Peace of Evil, but it still seemed... highly inactive. hopefully someday will be finished! the only reason not to buy (assuming you're the audience anyway ofc) is if sorta-dark stories or if highly possibly never-finish stories kill the deal for you. if you're fine with taking what you can get and the game looks up your alley, consider trying it out maybe. i'll up-review it because goodness, i really do love it a lot : x one of my favourite VNs honestly e…

This game... just saddens me. The BGM and SFX are great, the characters are lovable and are quite distinct from one another, with phenomenal CGs. But there's practically no choices to make, there are glaring narrative omissions, the english in the game is pretty awful (though is still notably better that some of the abysmal mutilations of the english language I've seen in other games), and worst of all - there's no conclusion. It's depressing because they did so much really well, but then they just... leave you hanging. It is SUCH a shame as, if this had been completed, I easily could've seen this being my first 10/10 on steam. Sadly, as it is, 3/10 - and I struggle to give it that; but the cast of characters deserve better than a 1 or a 2.

Interesting story. Thing is, it isn't complete and, well... may never be. It has been a long time since any updates. Cannot recommend at this time.

Peace of Evil is essentially a demo for what could be a very promising visual novel if it was actually still in development. The first thing that really drew me into this demo was the unique and colorful art style for all the characters. I find bright colorful novels are soothing to my eyes which helps me to enjoy a read much more than others. I enjoyed the opening for this novel, the music was fun, and it did well to show off the character sprites. What really caught my attention the most was the intro scene which highlighted how this novel was essentially the usual civilization after and apocalypse scenario, but it was told through the point of view from a new species other than humans, and through out the novel I personally think the writers did a great job building on that point of view. The plot line unfortunately does read like the imagination of a middle school kid, but even so it was at least consistent and well thought out I think. The story itself did a great job at keeping me engaged and excited for what was to come next in both the plot line and character interactions, especially as all the characters were well written from the view point of a species other than humans…
