fun and good looking, but not very deep in builds

I'm usually more drawn to pixel-art games, so I wasn't sure how much the 1930s cartoon style would appeal to me. It ended up being one of my favorite parts of the game. The visual direction is colorful and expressive, and it makes even the busiest fights easy to follow. The sound design deserves a lot of credit too. Every hit has a strong pop to it, enemies react in satisfying ways, and the combination of the effects and music makes the combat feel much more impactful than I expected

very satisfying gameplay loop. You start a run, choose your character and weapons, fight through waves, collect upgrades, and slowly build something that feels stronger and more ridiculous with every stage. Then you eventually get overwhelmed, learn what went wrong, and immediately want to try again. The meta progression helps make those failed attempts feel worthwhile, and the different characters give you a reason to keep experimenting instead of using the same strategy every time

The difficulty curve caught me off guard in a good way. At first I thought the game was going to be pretty easy, but the later levels definitely make you work for your progress. Enemies become more dangerous, the arenas get harder to manage, and small mistakes start adding up fast. It never feels like the game is asking you to do something impossible though. Most deaths made me think about what I could change in the next run, whether that meant moving differently, choosing another upgrade, or trying a completely different character

I really like the risk-and-reward choices between stages. You can take the safer option and protect a strong run, or gamble on something more dangerous for a potentially much better reward. Those decisions give the game more personality than simply choosing the next upgrade from a menu. Sometimes I played carefully because my build was already working, and other times I took the risky choice because I wanted to see how powerful I could make the character. It creates some memorable moments and gives every run a slightly different direction
