[h1]Dark vn about crazy maniacs?[/h1] First of all. Frontwing, thank you for translating your vns to english on release. You are best in this regard. Kinsenka is long visual novel without choices. Just this fact alone is enough for me to like it. I am not a fan of choices and different routes in visual novels. Kinsenka have same scenario writer as [b]Irotoridori No Sekai[/b] (which I like very much). And you can see similarities. [spoiler]There is godlike character who talk, guide and help dead lifes (souls) reborn in their next life; character in love with idea of love itself; trolling, strong, but lazy adult girl; flying feathers and even parasite butterfly in head. [/spoiler]But overall mood is different. It was very interesting reading. There is brutality and gore. Sometimes it was hard to fully understand the rules and peculiarities of this world. There is a lot of repetitive lines telling same things again. But I don’t mind it, because thanks for that, important information gets stuck in my head more and I don’t forget about it. Perennial Dusk: Kinsenka is a visual novel written by Yukito Urushibara, who wrote Irotoridori no Sekai and Hikari (which I consider flawed masterpieces), and piqued my interest when it got announced. This all-ages (17+) visual novel is fully linear with a five-chapter structure, unlike the typical route style. Sadly, I find Kinsenka a mixed bag—surpassing the Irotoridori series in a few aspects but falling short of its potential to be Urushibara’s best work (Haven’t read Sakura Moyu yet but now simultaneously interested and scared to). It’s a decent at best visual novel with standout moments but hampered by significant flaws. [h1]Setting and Themes [/h1] The Twilight Prison, a mystical realm holding memories of deceased souls, is the VN’s most compelling element. This setting facilitates thought-provoking scenarios, such as being able to view people’s memories with permission, and heavily emphasizes reincarnation, a theme consistent with the writer. The concept of Maledicts—magical beings ranging from harmless shadows to malevolent entities that possess people or roam as spirits—adds depth. Curse Bearers, humans who wield these spirits’ powers, gives the story a unique magical …

The highs were high, but the lows were also low. It felt both too long and not long enough at the same time. I like that Frontwing probably saw the mistakes they did with Ginka and gave Urushibara more budget for longer runtime. Letting the side characters be more polished. Though as seem to be common with Nakiges, the ending is always unsatisfying. Unanswered questions and the like. I love the theme they went for with the main plot that may not be what it seemed like at first glance, I lack the capability to describe that in a way that will not come across as spoiler, however. The music were pretty great in general. ヒトデナシ is best girl, without a doubt. Honestly if the game was trimmed down by like 5 hours I probably would've given it a 10/10, but it dragged out at points and the unsatisfying ending I'd only give it an 8.5, maybe 9 depending on my mood.

I wasn't going to write a review for this but after seeing the ending, I feel like I need to do so. As for the general stuffs of the novel, it had already been stated at the description and several other reviews already made their way through it so I'm going to skip the basic stuffs and move on with how i really feel for this VN. I will try to spoiler-free with my review as much as possible so if anyone could read this and decide for themselves, this is for you. First of all, "Perennial Dusk -Kinsenka-" is one work that had been on my radar for a while but i kept forgetting it as this was not the kind of work I like to read, so I am grateful for the sales to finally push me to buy this novel. And do I regret with my purchase, knowing this is not the kind of work I usually read? No. Absolutely not, for I love this novel with all my heart. First of all, why did this even appeal me even it's not the kind I like in the first place? Because this is Frontwing, I have read several of their works so yes, I have faith in their product.
