Pestilence

A short yet fun little stealth game. The theme and plot are quite cool and unique, the artstyle is awesome, and the music is pretty damn good too. Something I enjoyed playing through and can easily see others having fun with as well.

"Pestilence" is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. It's from U-tad. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise, and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments (especially if the students didn't even pass the course). Sure, it helps their marketing and helps the students feel good about themselves, but this is another case of a business putting themselves before the needs of gamers. The students made a short 3D first person stealth action tech demo. The idea follows the Lord of the Pestilence, a betrayed god seeking revenge by infiltrating a city and infecting its leaders, who are the Judges of the ruling caste, and you get your revenge through some okay-ish stealth mechanics. I WANT TO START by saying there is a dude who wrote an extremely negative review thousands of pages down. He has reviewed tens of thousands of things and just seems like an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, I don't know why. I say that because this game is great. For a student project- I went to school for games and this is as good (or better) than anything that we did. This game is a wonderful blend of Hitman and Dishonored and works extremely well. The mechanic of only being able to go places that belong to your social class is excellent- clearly a page out of Hitman's book but I just love the execution here. It is a great looking game, though I will say the janky animations don't help. I also just love the possession mechanic, it fits in really well as bridging the gap between Hitman's clothing swaps and Dishonored's possession ability. Also the teleport orb is a physics object??? What sort of madman designed this, lol. I do wish you could do more to stun or incapacitate guards, but it was fine as is. There were a few parts where it was kind of hard to find what to do next. Pestilence is an indie stealth adventure developed by Green Trouble Games and published by U-tad that places players in a dark fantasy setting where they take control of a vengeful deity rather than a traditional hero. The introduction of Pestilence is fair. It's an average game for you to explore and do wicked things, like infect or stun the guards.

This is a really good game, give it a go.
