Painkiller is a reimagining of the classic franchise, featuring co-op play for up to three players and full offline support. Battle hordes of demons and titanic terrors across richly detailed gothic environments.
Trapped in Purgatory, you are sentenced for your transgressions against Heaven. But the Voice of the Creator gives you a chance to redeem yourself. As one of the Champions, you are to stop the fallen angel Azazel who is about to unleash his demonic armies onto Earth. You will face hordes of enemies, demons with unique powers and three monstrous children of Azazel - the Nephilim. Will you succeed in your mission and earn your salvation?
Purgatory Is Your Playground - Jump, dash, and hook across vast biomes while fighting enemies with a host of new and classic Painkiller weapons. Grotesque Terrors Await - Challenge a variety of enemies ranging from hordes of smaller demons to titanic terrors.
Unleash The Pain - Utilize tarot cards to enhance your abilities and combine them with other players to obliterate your foes. Choose Your Character Wisely - Play as one of four distinctive characters - Ink, Void, Sol and Roch - and take advantage of their unique perks to boost your energy, health, power and damage.
Rogue Angel Mode – Step beyond the main campaign and into a new realm of Purgatory. Team up with your friends and fight for survival in handcrafted randomized arenas.

the gameplay is pretty cool, but it needs an active internet conection and the main objective is in multiplayer which is awful, also there's no campaign and you need to buy items (pay to win)5 found this helpful

There is plenty to like and dislike about Painkiller. PROS: -Whoever designed the weapons need a promotion! The starting weapons Electrodriver and Stake Gun have some of the best innovative steampunk designs in any game. -Heavy Metal almost on par with Doom. -HUGE enemy variety from player-trapping Wardens to movement limiting Tormentors. Every monster plays their part to make your time in purgatory a living hell. CONS: -Gameplay loop is quite linear and lacks variety. It is heavily wave based objectives. Every encounter was "Stand in a circle" or "Go to this circle, pick up this item and charge in a circle, than place in another circle" or survive the waves. It's repetitively dull. -Game breaking bugs still exist half a year after it's release. On my first run, an unkillable Meatbag appeared and had to restart my run. -Character design is atrocious. While the enemies look amazing, the main heroes are extremely unlikable. From their appearance to their personality, these champions will kill the mood. -The announcer is very annoying. The announcer talks in really long sentences and his voice has deep echoes throughout gameplay. -For $40 price tag, this game shouldn't be so short. …2 found this helpful

one of the best games I played this year, the cards and roguelike elements are so good and it has insane replayability system, also its coop!
