Dr. Plague

Gameplay looks generic at first, but I found myself enjoying the 'tense' stealth moments, they felt really good! and the atmosphere building had no right being as charming as it was. Well done!

I'm very glad I discovered this game. It's a very simple, very atmospheric stealth similar to Limbo. It inspires me to pick up Unity. In this exhausting AAA fatigue, something about launching this game makes me feel like a kid again. It has a refreshing lack of bloat, reminiscent of games I grew up with that stuck to their idea instead of trying to be an all-in-one experience.

A pretty good stealth game with some nice ideas. I liked its oppressive atmosphere (a game where you play as plague doctor can only be oppressive, I guess). Completed it in one sitting, took me around 1.5 hours.

I REALLY liked the game!!! It's a stealth platformer with various tasks, simple at first, and then quite difficult. This is what you need! By the way, the gameplay of the game is similar to Valiant Hearts, simpler, but also very interesting! I wish the developers great success and look forward to continuing!!! Игра ОЧЕНЬ понравилась !!! The ability to crouch, go-prone, whistle, hide within corpses, and flip the screen definitely helps Dr. Plague stand apart from the crowd, and I’d be lying if I claimed it had no fun. However, in a 2-3 hour journey, the vexations will always stand-out more, and none of this is even touching on the things you’ll have to adjust to in-game, like the arc leap of your doctor, the small delay from landing, and the need to move directionally in order to climb-up any wall. If you were hoping Dr. Plague would at least build on the narrative tidings of Limbo, then I suppose you’re getting that in a Monkey’s Paw sort-of-way as the opening chapter dumps a brief treatise entailing your doctor attempting to cure an epidemic being exploited by the ruling class…. ….yeah, if Dr. Plague sounds up your alley, best to buy it for its gameplay.

I rarely write negative reviews, but I think everyone should know what to expect if they're considering buying this game. Dr. Plague is based around a really cool concept, pivoting side-scrolling, but passed the first chapter you have explored pretty much everything it does with it and (spoiler for the final chapter) the one time the viewpoint serves for something a little more original is when the game ditches the side view for a forward facing camera. However, the main problem is that this game is a Die-And-Retry with poorly placed checkpoints (forcing you to go through easy puzzles ad nauseam if you happen to fail the harder one immediately afterwards) and it occasionally requires very precise timing despite having very imprecise controls and inconsistent logic: sometimes a knee-high wall can be vaulted over, sometimes it can't.
