Petit Game Collection vol.1

If you are buying this hoping for a highly interactive and fun extension of the Needy Streamer Overload universe, you need to temper your expectations. It does have that toxic charm from the actual game, but the execution across the collection is annnoying, mechanically lazy, and severely lacking in actual gameplay. The first game, Ame's Happy Happy Dating Game, is a visual novel that serves as a masterclass in writing codependency. Ame is super manipulative, using her cuteness to gaslight you while P-chan just eats it up and romanticizes her red flags. It's a spot-on look at two toxic people making each other worse. However, getting to those good character moments is a chore. The pacing is awful, leaving you to read boring walls of text filled with edgy, pseudo philosophical rambling and useless exposition dumps. It also commits the ultimate visual novel sin of tell, don't show. You will read text describing a heavy thud while staring at a static sprite and listening to a looping, boring soundtrack instead of getting an animation or proper sound design. The backgrounds rarely even match the text being shown on screen, like Ame raving about a retro game shop window while standing …

When you open the game, you are greeted with 4 different minigames, with a start screen missing. At first, the game is windowed, then it can automatically switch to full screen depending on what game you choose. When on the main screen you can choose between 4 languages, one of them being English yet the "Break Out Kangel" game, didn't have an English translation. "Ame's Happy Happy Dating Game" is a short VN with astonishing artwork. I enjoyed the dialogue as well, I wish it was a little longer.. The art in "Don't Die, Kangel!" is very cute, but it looks quite unpolished. Moreover, the minigame has only 3 stages. "KAngel's room" only has 7 notes from the game creators and that's it. Is it worth the price? I guess? If you enjoyed NSO, you would definitely enjoy the Ame's Date Game. If you haven't played NSO and wanted to try Petit Collection first? Not really worth it.

i absolutely adored needy streamer overload and was really excited to play this minigame collection. going into it, i knew that the visual novel had the most content and i was perfectly fine with that. but actually playing it i was pretty disappointed, and the other two minigames made my whole experience even less enjoyable. if you loved NSO... i honestly cant recommend getting this game. at least not at full price. what i really didnt like about the VN, is how much personality p-chan haD in it. i know they HAVE to have one cuz duh player character in a dating sim. but it really takes away from how p-chan IS the player in the original game... there are no defining features about their personality aside from the few times you can pick what they say. i wish there was more to the dating sim option wise than just picking where to go on the date... but even then i still would have been irritated, because we are suddenly able to hear the thoughts of a faceless, nameless protagonist that is MADE for the player to project onto. what i was so excited for about the VN... was that i assumed it would be from Ame's POV. i skim read the description and didnt read that it was a dating sim..…

The Games are super enjoyable, not really replayable once you finish them but their all still super fun. Ame's laments and worries in the visual novel are so moving. And I like how she worries about becoming too different to the point that her past self would come and beat her up. I also like how she reflects on the fragility of relationships and how the second trust is gone it collapses. I like the happy ending where she strives to keep going and resolves to face everything together with P-Chan.
