World 1: Wow I think I'm good at this game! Asteroid level: I was wrong. This game gets hard! I appreciate the instructions with the new concepts being introduced. It's also colorful with nice original music.

The game and the music are great. Loved the level designs, and the throwback homages. The music set a great ambience, and I love the different ways the concept was used to provide different play experiences. The bosses were a good touch. Downside: I played with a controller which worked perfectly fine, except in the menus. It was not obvious what was being highlighted, and there was no mouse on screen to help, if I wanted to use that. And the retro win fanfare, while fun, breaks immersion a bit in contrast to the more modern techno soundtrack. I would have like to see the stages unlock one at a time (I accidentally did the World 1 boss before anything), and somehow I missed the idea that the "ball" could be shot at lower power, until I absolutely HAD to do it to pass a level and accidentally stumbled on it. Overall: great fun though. I couldn't stop playing, and there appears to be an unlimited number of possible puzzles one could make. Which makes me hope (though I understand it's like making a whole other game) that there will be a creator mode at some point in the future.

This game is odd, you can tell that much just by looking at it. Ping Redux is a strange puzzle game, it's rather simple but also very challenging (and frustrating at times). Last year I got all the achievements for this game on my Xbox One, pure torture honestly. When I learned this was also on Steam I decided to also get them here, purely put of spite. Thankfully playing with a mouse made things much easier, so much so that my playtime was basically cut in half. Ping Redux definitely isn't a masterpiece with cleverly designed puzzles and an outstanding art direction, that part is actually quite peculiar... but it doesn't pretend to be any of that either, so I have some slight fondness for it. It's simply a time killer and an excuse to hear the achievement sound 30 times in just under 2 hours. Pretty effective and straightforward way to get some dopamine if you ask me.
