Not sure why people are talking about this like it's a Re-Volt successor. Re-Volt came out ages ago and has more interesting maps than this. Music from Re-Volt was kinda catchy and all of this music sounds like some pre-made pack purchases. Doesn't have a map creator either and that's honestly one of the features that made Re-Volt awesome. Probably my fault hoping this would catch my nostalgia of that game but this just doesn't feel that fun to play. Not just compared to Re-Volt but to combat racing games in general.

I'm constantly on the lookout for split screen racing games, especially with combat options. This one was promising, but I just don't find it fun at all. I thought the RC car angle would be amusing, but the driving controls and physics just feel too light and toylike for my taste. Driving real RC cars is fun, but I guess if I'm doing it digitally, I want it to feel less like a 2 pound toy and more like a real vehicle with stuff like brakes.

Pocket Cars takes the familiar childhood appeal of remote-controlled vehicles and transforms it into an energetic combination of arcade racing, vehicular combat, stunt driving, and physics-based experimentation. Developed and published by Gen90Software, the game makes clever use of miniature scale, turning otherwise ordinary surroundings into oversized racing environments. Instead of pursuing strict motorsport realism, it focuses on accessible driving, spectacular crashes, weapons, boosts, and playful competition. The result is a racer with enough personality to distinguish itself from more conventional driving games. Driving is built around physics-simulated RC vehicles, so momentum, jumps, collisions, terrain, and landing angles all influence how a car behaves. There is an arcade quality to the controls, but players still benefit from learning how their chosen vehicle reacts under acceleration and while navigating difficult surfaces. Boosting creates additional opportunities for aggressive driving, particularly on straights and when approaching jumps. Simple, fun RC racer

It isn't re-volt. But it is tons of fun. Just a bit light on features. Got all the races fully beaten and everything unlocked in about 7hr

So recently, I’ve been looking into RC car games in the attempt to find a replacement for Re-Volt, the classic RC game first launched in 1999. After playing Pocket Cars for 3 hours at the time of this review, I can now confidently say that this RC game is a great alternative—maybe even the best modern alternative to the legendary Re-Volt. The cars feel great, the weapon mechanics are satisfying (Although could use some effect improvements), and the graphics are impressive (Always room for improvement for graphics however, I hope they add more visual options and detail in future updates). It plays and feels very similar to Re-Volt, which is great. I'm a bit disappointed to see so few players online at any given time. Hopefully, the game will gain more popularity soon. Maybe even a name change would help—I'm not sure Pocket Cars is the strongest title, in my opinion. If I had to choose between the latest "Recharge" game on Steam and Pocket Cars, Pocket Cars wins, hands down—at least at the time of this review.
